Hotel Palais Porcia

This old-time hotel has several advantages: it's located in the heart of Klagenfurt so the famous dragon fountain is right out the entry, they have a plan for parking in the city under ground lot, which is also entered directly outside the entry, and last, but not least is the wonderful service provided by the concierge Christian! Somewhat of an historian, he provided not only direction and meal suggestions, but a wealth of information about the town and region!

Very beautiful hotel in a historical building on the central square of the city, luxurious interior, and very hospitable staff. Very interesting and atmospheric place. If you want to feel like a prince or princess this hotel is for you.

This is like a French palace in the middle of Klagenfurt. Absolutely beautifully furnished, simply breath taking decor. The breakfast room is simply astonishing. You just sit there with your mouth open marvelling at the incredibly tasteful furnishings. I recommend you book including breakfast because the experience of the breakfast room is a one in a lifetime experience. Excellent location opposite the tourist information where you can also hire bikes. Included in the hotel price is a tourist card giving you 20% discount on bike hire and 50% on boat trips and other reductions to museums etc. On the negative side, the water pressure in the bathroom is poor. There is a shower curtain and not a glass partition. It's a shower in the bath and not a shower unit. Our room had water damage where the parkett had got wet and was raised. Parking is available in the local car park but costs 19€ per day which needs to be taken into account when budgeting. Make sure you contact the hotel before driving into the car park. The overall experience was positive so I can recommend the hotel with only minor reservations.
