Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena

Blown away this hotel. We had the cheapest room we could, but it was clean, convenient, and nicely decorated on the inside. The pool was beautiful, warm, and a great central point within the hotel. We had several great afternoons chilling and taking advantage of the pool bar before going to dinner. We regularly had the breakfast, which was one of the most elaborate buffets I've ever been to. I don't typically love buffets, but this one was excellent and something to look forward to every morning. We ate at 1621, which was an amazing experience in a very interesting, historic room. The food served was excellent, as was the drink pairings. The highlight of the whole experience, though, is the incredible history behind the hotel. It was fascinating to see elements of the original architecture and remnants of the previous iterations of the site. We did the complimentary tour, which gave incredible insight to the rich history of the building. This is the type of hotel that you could devote an entire day to soaking in, without feeling like you missed out on Cartagena history. If I had one recommendation, it would be to upgrade the TVs as it was very difficult to get to an English setting and even more difficult to use the dated remote.

We stayed for 5 nights and had an amazing experience. The service was absolutely impeccable—every interaction radiated warmth and authenticity. It was clear the staff genuinely cared, always welcoming us with sincere smiles and engaging in thoughtful, friendly conversation. The entire setting felt like something out of a fairytale: a charming building with timeless character, a magical garden serenaded by live guitar music, and guests elegantly dressed for the evenings. It all came together to create a deeply personal, unforgettable, and truly special experience. Highly recommended!

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was amazing. The staff is superb. I felt like royalty here. They waited on us hand and foot and were always so pleasant. They treated us with such a beautiful anniversary gift. I’m so sad I can’t take it with me on the plane. The grounds are beautiful with all the trees and the pool is large and prettt too. The location is convenient too and safe. Overall, really enjoyed our stay here
