I first stayed at this location in 2016, and then in 2019. I returned recently at the end of May 2025 and found it has maintained well. My wife and I enjoyed that the rooms are rather large, and could easily be described as an apartment; important since we were traveling on vacation with two weeks' worth of luggage. The bathrooms are quite nice, and we enjoyed the full size balcony door that allows for air circulation. Evidently during the renovations, they have installed central air, which isn't in operation yet. There are some nice perks such as the breakfast which is worth the price. What's odd is that the standard room has a tiny TV which might be approximately 20 inches; odd considering the large, bare wall. Parking is available but seems to be extremely limited. Plus, as someone who was stationed here before and know the local beers, I really appreciated they stock the best beer in the area - Schonbuch - which is not easy to find, especially outside of the Stuttgart area. The location of this hotel is pretty nice, considering it's potential when they have movies or shows, with the neighboring theater and restaurants. If I ever return to the area, I will not hesitate to book here. Plus, the prices are quite comparable to other places of the similar amenities.
I’ve stayed at several hotels and B&Bs before, but unfortunately, this one is not something I would recommend. For the price I paid, I expected a higher level of quality. The room was a very basic family suite. While it had enough space and the hygiene was acceptable, there wasn’t much else to appreciate. I can’t complain about cleanliness, but that’s about it. Breakfast was disappointing. The dining area was overcrowded, and we had to wait in a queue because there was no space to sit. The breakfast itself was very basic, and to my surprise, there was no toast — which, for me, is a deal-breaker. For €19, I expected better quality. Even the orange juice tasted like water and had no flavor at all. I’ve stayed at cheaper hotels that offered far better breakfasts. By 9:45 a.m., most of the food had run out and wasn’t being refilled. Overall, this stay was not worth the money, and I personally would not recommend it.
We had made a reservation for one night to visit Schwabenquelle, a spa for which MASEVEN offered a special discounted entry-fee package, including a sauna bag with bathrobe and towels. Upon arrival, we were disappointed to see that the hotel was not directly connected to the spa. When I asked at reception if there was a way to walk over, the snide response was that I could walk there across the street in my bathrobe if I so chose. Others in the the queue found this amusing; I felt chastised and shamed. The employee also pointed out that there was no affiliation with Schwabenquelle. This is, as I know now, technically true. The implication we inferred from the discount was not solely our error though, but a trust we put in information provided by the hotel. At Schwabenquelle, we were told that the hotel does indeed give out sauna bags. So we hiked back across the street to retrieve them. No apologies were offered for not handing these to us upon check-in. In the end, we left the hotel without spending the night. The room was extremely smelly and poorly cleaned; there were 20 or so empty water bottles under the bathroom sink, and an asthma-inducing spray had been used throughout the suite that did not disappear after airing out the room. In summary: an expensive disappointment, and one of the worst interactions with hotel staff.
