Amazing place close to nature. If you want to feel like living in a village while still be close to cafes and shops, you have to stay here. River right behind the room. Birds chirping. Lots fo greenery. And on a lucky day, you can see the volcano in the far distance. They have shuttle to the central area. Very friendly staff, greeting you with a smile. Nice breakfast, can also served to the room.
Alam Jiwa was the first and only place I have stayed at in Ubud and have stayed there 6 times now. It’s just superior to anything else in its price range. You get a huge half villa (with the biggest beds and bathrooms I’ve ever seen in a hotel), private balcony, water garden with fish and lotus flowers, peaceful views of rice fields, breakfast and afternoon included, pool and wonderful staff/service. The traditional architecture and Hindu traditions, like daily offerings. Most of the staff have been there at least since 2019 since we first visited and they’re extremely friendly and helpful in organising tours, activities, recommending restaurants etc. Even though it’s in busy, noisy Nyuh Kuning (near the Monkey Forest) it’s discreetly tucked away from the madness. The only slight issue is that Alam Jiwa is a bit of a hike to the centre of Ubud. Prepare to hire a scooter, use scooter or car taxis or take a long walk to the Palace, Yoga Barn etc. They do have a car that can take you places and pick you up again, but I think it’s added to the price. Otherwise, luxuriate and enjoy ☺️
Excellent place for a hide away yet within walking distance to amenities ; food, corner stall etc. Wide dining options from local waroung to cafe bistro, vietnamese, italian and French. Provides free shuttle to Ubud Central. In fact it is only 15 mins walking through the Monkey Forest to Ubud shopping precinct. The rooms are spacious, the gardens and compounds are well.maintained. Staff is friendly and shares willingly. Breakfast offerings are both continental and asian. Most other things can be arranged at the reception.
