Alila Kothaifaru Maldives

We stayed at Alila Kothaifaru Maldives for 9 nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and it was unforgettable. The hospitality was exceptional from the moment we stepped off the seaplane. We split our stay between a beach villa and an overwater sunset villa. The beach villa was beautiful and lush, but the mosquitoes in the outdoor bathroom/pool area were a drawback. The overwater villa, on the other hand, was pure paradise—peaceful, stunning views, and incredibly relaxing. We’ll be booking that for the full stay next time. Huge thanks to our host Yunus, who helped with everything—from dining, snorkeling, and even picking up medicine when I wasn’t feeling well. The food was some of the best we’ve had anywhere. Special shoutout to Arya at the Yakitori Bar—his cocktails were incredible, and he went out of his way to surprise us with fresh coconut water and even homemade coconut oil. The chefs, Bhupendra and Frank, made us feel like VIPs with special off-menu dishes. Cherry at Sea Salt memorized my wife’s iced coffee order and had it ready each morning. We also really appreciated the warmth from Danilo and Salam, and were touched when GM Jamal sent a resort hat to our room after chatting about my collection. Alila Kothaifaru is a world-class resort with even better people. Highly recommend it for couples or anyone looking to unwind in luxury.

I came to this resort for my honeymoon, and I can honestly say it was the best place and experience of my life. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like family. Everyone was so kind, warm, and genuine — we ended up forming real friendships with some of the staff, as well as another couple we met during our stay. We’re now lifelong friends, which is something we never expected but will always cherish. The resort itself is a perfect balance of relaxation and adventure. Whether you want to fill your days with activities or simply sit back and soak in the beauty around you, this place has it all. Every corner felt like paradise. I find myself looking back at photos every single day, just wishing I could go back. This is the only place I’ve ever cried leaving — not out of sadness, but out of pure gratitude for having experienced something so special. If you’re considering staying here, do it. You won’t regret it.

I recently stayed at Alila ( May 2025) and had a truly memorable experience, thanks to the stunning location and the exceptional hospitality of the team. There were a few areas that should be considered : -The outdoor bathroom, although designed to be in harmony with nature, there’s a lot of insects and you can’t leave your skin care products there due to the hot weather. -There were too many mosquitoes, which made it difficult to enjoy the outdoor spaces fully. -no bicycles available for guests - I have half boarded (breakfast & dinner) no open buffet it a set menu but was not the best for me (there’s small buffet for Asian food & different kinds of fruit & veggies)
