Amber Sea Hotel & Spa

A very cute hotel in the stunning green Jurmala. Friendly staff, great food, loads of birds chipping... The rooms were spacious, we also had a lovely big terrace. The only thing I viewed as negative was the disgusting smell of the bathroom :/ It smelled like portable toilet :/ Otherwise the hotel is 100 meters away from sea and also quite close from the near by forest park :)

Near the sea, nice breakfast,beautiful building and garden, nice room, friendly staffs, great dinner at their restaurant. There are couple of rooms for improvements, the coffee wasn't good bc of milk powder used in it, I suspect. Also, the shower walls were a bit yellow and there was germ built up in the corners signalling that it hasn't been rubbed clean properly. It should be spotless for a hotel at this price range. Otherwise, very much liked our stay.

I would not recommend, this is definitely NOT a 4 star hotel, more like 3 or 2. You can get so much better with a better price. The staff seems annoyed and the lack of basic english knowledge leads to misunderstandings. There was clearly lack of communication between the staff members which led to even more misunderstandings. The smell in the room was very bad, it smelled extremely stale and the gross smell stuck in our clothes. The room had several maintence issues that never got fixed, not even after multiple complains to the staff. So don’t take for granted that you have a working fridge for example. There was spiderweb in most of the corners of the hotel and also multiple spiders. A good thing was that the hotel provided slippers so that you didn’t have to walk on the icky and ugly carpetmat in the room with your own socks. The soundproofing was also very bad. The TV didn’t even show a single chanel. The ”spa” is very small with only one small pool and 2 saunas where it’s forbidden to throw löyly, which makes it just a hot room, not a sauna. The spa receptionist was quite unknowledged even about the spa that she works for. The ”gym” is extremely small and basically made for 1 or 2 people. The hotels location is basically in a bush, you can’t get there without a car. Then the breakfast was a total flop. It was absolutely now worth 15€, more like 5€. They ran out of most of the food in the first 30 minutes and when the one and only worker went to refill the plates, that person only refilled them halfway, which led to that the food just run out immidiately again. Also the vegetables tasted like mold and there was only one type of a bread that was cut in ridicilously small pieces. The restaurant area was also very small and the service in the restaurant otherweise than breakfast was also a dissapointment. Overall it seems like the staff hates their job and don’t even want customers. The lack of language knowlegde and basic customer service skills, like just a hello or even a smile, leads to a bad experience. This hotel seems to be understaffed and poorly scooled. The expectation for a 4 star hotel was so so much higher, this was a huge dissapointment and we will definitely never come back.
