Amberton Cozy Hotel Kaunas

I was very surprised when we arrived to a key code on the front door. We hadn't had any communication with a number to get in. We pressed the buzzer, and someone at the end of a phone finally answered. She told us she was new and couldn't find us on the booking system. She asked that we ring back in 5 minutes when another member of staff would be able to help. We were finally given a number via WhatsApp after providing them with our telephone number. We were also told the room number and door code for the bedroom. There was no reception or lift. We were on the 4th floor. There are two flights of stairs to each floor. After crawling up all eight flights of steps, we entered the code we were given. The hallway was very dark in the corner where our room was. We had to use the torch from our phones. We tried to enter the code 6 times. Each time, the keypad turned red and wouldn't let us in. It was now past midnight. Imagine how delighted my partner was having to go back down all those stairs and to the outside of the hotel to "buzz" the remote reception again. They assured him it was the right number. This time the code did work. I think they hadn't sorted it at their end! On entering our room, it was very warm and quite small. My partner had to duck down to get around the bed. The air-conditioning was very poor. I hardly slept. The following day, I texted them and reminded them that I had rang 2 weeks earlier to ask if we could have a room with good air-conditioning. I did get a reply straight away. They said the cleaner was just finishing off a room on the floor below. It definitely had better air-conditioning. After 5 mins, we were given the new room. What a difference. It is spacious and the air-conditioning actually works! This morning, a lovely lady arrived at the hotel at 5.30am to work in the breakfast room. I asked for help to get a taxi as our uber had let us down, and we needed to get to the bus station. This lady was so helpful. She used her own phone to call us a taxi. When that didn't arrive, she called another for us. She definitely went above and beyond! Thank you to that lady!!!

Horrible experience, can't believe it's a 4-star hotel The self-check-in procedure is different from what I received in the confirmation. You will need to call a service center to do the authorization and no one is answering. I was stuck in the lobby for 30 minutes with no AC while it's super warm inside so I needed to go out to find a drink to cool down a bit and then struggled for another half hour to check in Even a backpacker hostel can do better than this. The Location and the breakfast are nice. But be prepared as many others have left their review with similar experiences. Never again.

There is no reception, you call a call center. The room we got was not as the pictures. We got a room on the fourth floor with no elevator and got greeted by a beaming radiator that made the room like a sauna.. and it was no adjustment, either cold or sauna. The shower had like no pressure at all. The breakfast was really small with a low variety of food. Over all, just the location was good, unfortunately
