We stayed 6 days with half board. Rooms are large, the hotel is very nice and decorated with charm. The spa is great. We travelled with kids and didn’t feel the kids were very welcome though. Play room is only open in the afternoon and closes at 7:30pm, their diner was the same for 3 days, until we asked for a change. Adult diner was nice but half board didnt include any drink, even (surprisingly) tap water
We had a 6 night stay at the Artnatur. We travelled with friends and our children. Let’s start with the pros- This hotel is in a beautiful location with amazing scenery. The rooms are clean, comfortable and with ample space for a family. The spa is lovely, and although the water in the outdoor pool is not heated it was not too bad for a swim in a warm day. The food was really good and dinner was made of sophisticated dishes which were always tasty. The cons - from my perspective, management should make up their minds regarding the approach to families with children. On one hand you are made to believe ( from the website description) that this is a family friendly hotel, but that does not always match what you are made to feel once you are there. Asking for a different menu for children or letting them play in the playroom after dinner or during the morning was seen as an inconvenience. We also were reminded that children should not “play”, swim or be loud in the indoor pool, which left us feeling very uncomfortable ( especially as the outdoor pool was very cold for the kids). Whilst I really understand that having children in a pool swimming and playing might not be the most relaxing experience for other child free clients , it may be more honest to just advertise this hotel as adults only.
They advertise a family-friendly hotel but the reality is that kids do not feel welcomed. Rooms are great, spa and pool awesome and very good food. Staff is not always friendly. Despite having a spring water outside they won’t serve us tap water until we asked for ‘the maitre’ permission and they charged for it … despite paying half board you have to pay for tap water! Kids were offered the very same menu for one entire week (pasta + meat w fries) and when we asked for an alternative the staff was quite rude and it took us two days to get an alternative. Kids room opening hours overlap with spa hours and kids are not allowed to play there after dinner even if the room is close to the garage where they cannot disturb anyone … meaning that they have to wait at the table until. their parents are served 4 course meal with very long waiting times … The hotels should really think about becoming adult only or doing efforts to make families welcome. A good explanation at the beginning of the stay with the do and dont’s is extremely appreciated to avoid the discovery of a new rule every day …
