My husband and I stayed for 3 nights as a break whilst we cycle north. The cabin was very well equipped and clean. Very helpful and friendly owners and gave a safe storage place for our bikes. It is a short walk into town for all the shops, cafés and pier if you want to pop over to Russell on the ferry. We also walked to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and Museum. We ate at Charlotte's kitchen following a recommendation by the daughter, and the suggestion was spot on. :-)
Comfortable, quiet, clean, warm, and spacious cabins which are a short 7-8 min walk into Paihia. The cabins have all the necessary amenities for a short or long stay, with a nice balcony to enjoy the ocean view. The team are very friendly and helpful.
Cabin 6. Cleanliness of shower/bathroom needs attention - significant mould on inner lower ledge when looking out. Window frames and blinds had mould on them. Some ant baits wouldn't go a miss - saw a few when entering for the first time so were careful not to leave food out however daughters lunchbox carry bag had a couple small crumbs and had sat on bench zipped up - enough to cause a swarm. Thankful there was odourless bug spray provided. Bed, though somewhat soft, moved A LOT with two people in them. Well equipped for cooking, but we didn't do any. Handle to bathroom needs repair (coming loose) and some fittings looking worse for wear. $640 for 2 night Easter weekend stay for 3. It was close to town (short walks), away fromt he noise and across the road from the local school playground. Driveway steep to drive up, but parking was sufficient. Could hear the ocean from the garden view room. The steps are quite sloped and a challenge to navigate with belongings. Insufficient solar lighting for safety - you will need your phone torch. Checking in/out was easy and friendly. I would probably choose elsewhere to stay if I returned to Paihia.
