Modest but very enjoyable. Many return here, myself ten times, so there must be something to los Galeones. The resort staff goes far to make your experience a great one. The town will delight you as an authentic Cuban experience. Getting down to the beach is work. Getting back up for snacks at five is harder! Don't forget your towel! Lunch is great on the beach. Not great long sandy beach, but interesting safe snorkelling. Bring booties. The music at the resort is a beautiful plus to the meals. And the meals were good- not super buffet but good honest vacation food. If you're lucky and the guests are few, the a la carte menu is the best. A fish, a chicken and a pork or beef dish will be the centre of your meal. Part of me doesn't want los Galeones to become too popular so maybe it wasn't that good after all. Yeah, you wouldn't like it! But if you do, let's keep it our little secret! ps The first photo above is of the big sister resort called Sierra Mar- nice but not as warm and friendly as los Galeones. pps. Just got back from a so-called “great resort”. los Galeones wasn’t accepting guests when we booked… should have waited! ppps. Good to be within a short walk to town. Play some softball with the youngsters or get to pinch hit for their intercounty adult team…
Juste simply beautiful, It should be keep a little secret. I want room when I come back. 32 rooms makes it a very personal and friendly service. Don't come here to party!, the bar closes @ 0100 am. Come to relax, great conversation with the regulars that have be going for the fifth time to the 30 time year after year. Not for everybody, but if you need down time it's perfect 👌🏻. I've went alone and I dint even pulled out a book once. I do like to talk to everybody. It's a quick walk to the village Chivirico. It was very nice to be near the pulse of a small Cuban village. And yes: 300 +/- steps to get down and up from the private beach. Theres always chairs, the bar and the small kitchen makes for a great day at the beach. Don't forget anything, you'll hate yourself... The room were nice, Cuba style. Ac machine worked flawlessly and I had hot water. The cooking was great, not much fruits in the begining of January. But it is a small resort. The intertanement at night is simple but high quality. The staff also as being working there since ages, there so nice, attentive and always in a good mood. I'll see you next year in January, but please keep this place for yourself and close friends only!
This is a hotel for adults only. The clientele is mostly repeated. Many have been coming there for years. The beach is only accessible by walking down (and consequently up) about 300 steps. The rooms surround the pool and restaurant. There is a cool whirlpool a few steps up on a veranda with lounge chairs overlooking the village of Chivirico and the Sierra Maestra Mountain range from where Fidel Castro fought his historic battle against Battista’s army in the late 50s. The waiters and generally employed people there are extremely friendly and will do anything in their power to make your stay memorable. There is local entertainment almost every night. The food is the usual Cuban fare of chicken, pork and fish with rice, potatoes and vegetables. This year (2019) we saw more tomatoes, cucumbers and fruits available than the previous years. The waters are usually not for regular swimmers because of the high amount of corals that are only interesting to snorklers! You can get hurt if you don’t watch it and you get hurled against some razor sharp corals when it’s wavy.
