Enjoyed my stay at Hilton Caribe. The room was clean and spacious. The ocean view in the wave wing was beautiful! The only downsides were the beach area was closed due to excessive seaweed and there aren’t many food options in walking distance of the property. Overall it was a nice stay!
I stayed here due to the Hilton name and had higher expectations for paying over $300+ a night . I was expecting 4-5 stars and got 3 stars. Place is gorgeous yes but lots of things wrong. Room had walls all chipped of paint/ scuffed walls and lots of areas where it was not dusted or cleaned. (Gross) The beach area can be nice but trash in the sand/ grounds and I noticed several outdoor furniture were ripped or beyond broken ! The hammock was usable but ripped. The pool was gorgeous but could use a good day of emptying and cleaning. The main water fountain when you walk to pool area was broken and tiles cracked which doesn’t give a good first impression when walking to the area. To get into the pool area, they need to scan double bracelet and check your bags, I rather they go around the property to clean and pick up trash to keep grounds tidy than scan pool bracelets or even someone just maintaining the grounds. Location - is perfect with tons of Ubers available . Little restaurants steps away for morning breakfast and coffee. No need to rent a car. Ubers were under $5 a ride ! Less than 10 minutes to old San Juan and el morro. On site stores- ice cream shop , starbucks and 2 souvenir shops on site with several expensive restaurants on site and bar in lobby. Staff - everyone I met was very kind and respectful. I cannot complain there . On Wednesday and Saturdays you can ask concierge desk for food to feed the ducks and fish which we loved ! Overall, nice hotel that needs some paying attention to details and maintenance. Not sure who dropped the ball here but do better when people are paying over $300 a night to stay ! Lastly - don’t bring your dog if you are going to let it piss on the floor , see it and continue walking as you watch people step on it thinking it’s water . Filthy dog owners .
Do not book here, I repeat do not book here!! I paid a pretty penny ($3500+) for my family’s and I stay. The hotel is old but that isn’t the issue. The issue was the lack of cleanliness in this place. The rooms were gross, I got put in a room with no working shower and apparently it had been cleaned right before I arrived, how do you clean a bathtub and not notice the water faucet isnt even working?? Toothpaste stains all over bathroom mirror!! Stains on the bed. The rug in the rooms is gross. Shampoo and soap bottles empty, then I heard a housekeeper who was cleaning the room across from mine complain that the guest used all the soap in their room. Is that not a paid amenity? Like people gotta shower, what do you expect?! The whole resort smells like dead fish. Pool could be a lot cleaner. THERE IS NO BEACH IN THIS HOTEL, it has been overtaken by seaweed. I get they can’t control the environment but if that’s the case stop advertising a beach. The location makes this place convenient for exploring old San Juan but if you’re like me and expect a cleaner hotel room for the price of $3500 do not book here
