Casona del Negro Aguilar

Wow! This is a hidden gem in the heart of Valladolid. You go through an inconspicuous door into a beautiful paradise one block from the main plaza. The family that owns it are the nicest people and every detail is tended to. It is filled with lovely plants, the rooms are well appointed and nicely decorated. The plunge pool is perfect on a hot day. And, it is a quiet refuge from the bustling city around it. Our stay has been perfect!

Perfect location, right next to town central, bus transportation, and grocery stores. The host was very friendly, gave us lots of free bottled water and allowed us to use an extra fan. The balcony in the back is lovely, but quite warm at times. There is a "kitchen" with plastic fish ware and one electric burner that turned off randomly, but can still heat water to hot. While staying there our room was very very warm, sometimes warmer than outside which made it difficult to sleep, our only complaint.

Pros - Close to central - helpful and nice owners - can use kitchen facilities - they keep your luggage Cons - bed mattresses are not comfortable. - they didn’t show us how to switch on the hot water for the shower (leading to us having a cold shower) - beware of super early check out at 11am (non flexible)
