We loved our stay at Mowana. You can see the great views we had from our room and from one of the bars. We had monkeys on our balcony and saw impalas and warthogs on the grounds. The food was serviceable. It wasn’t great but alas I wasn’t bad. We actually expected a little more from the breakfast in the morning after the game drives. It was a 4 star meal at a beautiful 5 star hotel. We also booked our own reservation and weren’t with a group and felt that we were almost second class compared to the groups that booked or were just traveling through. As an example it took almost an hour to get a la carts food for lunch our first day. When we sat for dinner they had reserved seats for all the groups and we got whatever was left over. It was a short 10-15 minute ride to the Chobe park entrance for game drives. We went during the dry season, early August, and were treated to a million amazing animals for the 3pm game drive and some great cats in the morning drives. Not walkable to any curio shop's or other restaurants. The staff and facilities were great. The spa was nice and the pools looked nice but it was a little too chilly for a swim while we were there. There is a complimentary shuttle to the Kasane airport.
We spent a week there. It was a great resort, lots of wild animals seen (all were safe), delicious food, amazing sunsets! The gym was well set up. Service highlights received by Chef Blessing who was very customer focused and made fantastic, high quality meals for 500 people a day, Jomo at the golf course was fun and helpful. Banks at the front was super friendly and helpful. Carlos at the Breakfast bar was very friendly and Annah our cleaner who was very sweet. Only complaint was the price to get to and from the resort…not much available on the resort. We also found the fees for tours to be much cheaper elsewhere.
Went to the restaurant; didn't stay overnight. The view of the Chobe river from the bar is picturesque. The service is great. However, the drinks are ridiculously over-priced! There should be a discount for tourists from the SADC region. The decor of the resort is very beautiful.
