The rooms need updating, it looks like there was an attempt to update some time ago, however the hotel is undergoing renovations but this did not impact our weekend stay. There were no treatments available at the spa when we enquired on the day as they were fully booked, however I understand the hotel is looking to expand the spa provision. The restaurant and bar staff are very good and the food is good too. Upon checkout when asking how our stay was, I felt the receptionist had little or no interest in my feedback, but did say that spa treatments should be booked in advance of our stay. We stayed here as it was a 15 min drive from Nomadic dining.
Nice relaxing hotel with lots of space to spread out in different parts of the building. Room very spacious and bed comfy. A few nice treats in the mini bar and lovely toiletries. Meal in restaurant was delicious and great wine. Service from Alessandro in the restaurant was awesome. Swimming pool and sauna etc very clean and relaxing. Altogether a great stay.
I’ve stayed at this hotel twice and had a poor experience on both occasions. Usually refrain from negative reviews but felt compelled after my recent stay. The first time I was overcharged and had to wait weeks for a refund. Frustrating, but something I put down to an unfortunate system error. It was annoying that I was promised “points” to make up for the issue. These points were the equivalent to £10 off a stay and never arrived anyway. Don’t think there are any excuses for my most recent stay. I was a bit concerned at check-in when the woman in front was complaining of a room that smelt of cigarette smoke, and she wasn’t dealt with in the most polite manner. Then, after checking in myself I noticed a red hand print on the curtains (paint? make up? blood? I have no idea!) and a loud sleep-disrupting sound of a leak, or perhaps some poor internal drainage system (it wasn’t raining), right above our room door. I tried to call down to reception but no answer and then went in person to find nobody there. I waited for 15 minutes before giving up. After showering in the morning I went downstairs to inform the reception desk that the shower wouldn’t turn off properly. They said maintenance wasn’t available until 9am (it was 6:30am) so I would just have to wait until then. When checking out I replied to the obligatory “did you enjoy your stay?” question with the list of issues detailed above. It was simply met with a half-hearted apology. It’s also minor but the car park is a joke. A huge pot hole on entry and no effort to maintain the car park surface. It might not cause damage to cars at that speed but goes to show the level of care put in by the hotel in general. I would say that the breakfast is of a decent standard and the restaurant staff were very polite and friendly. Unfortunately, that didn’t make up the issues with the room.
