We booked 3 nights in February 2023 and had an absolute wonderful time. Everything about the hotel is perfect, the location is right on the town square, a short walk to everything in town. We had a rental car and there was ample parking available. The main part of the hotel is very old, over 1200 years, while the hotel has since been expanded to include newer buildings. There are many different room types available and some are decorated a modern style and some are old and classic. We requested an older room, which was very charming. It had low ceilings and the floors were uneven due to the age of the building but we found this to be very charming and beautiful. Our room overlooked the Linggplatz from the top floor but we had to climb several stairs to get there - we didn’t mind! But, if you need elevator access and a more spacious room just ask for one of the newer rooms when you book. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we had during our stay in Europe. We enjoyed wonderful local fare at the hotel’s main restaurant the first evening, sadly we did not have an opportunity to try the other, Michelin starred restaurant but we look forward to this on our next stay. All of the hotel staff were friendly and the service was excellent. The charm of the hotel is off the charts, from individually named and themed rooms with old artwork, to the cozy restaurant. We took a peek but didn’t use the spa facilities, they were very clean and inviting - next time we will bring our swim suits. Thank you to everyone at the hotel who made our stay enjoyable, we look forward to a return trip soon.

Good restaurant (didn't visit the Michelin starred le table so just the normal one) , good service , very average rooms, reasonable price. Service in the restaurant from the full.menu is only till 9pm, which is a pity. After 9pm service is from a smaller menu. The restaurant is also closed on a number of nights each week which is also a little inconvenient. I spent many nights in Bad Hersfeld for work and stayed most of these at the Romantik. I stayed in a number of their rooms, lots of different ones, never the same. One thing you can almost guarantee is that each room has its own character. The rooms all seem to be large and clean. I know the hotel has a great deal of history and is old, but furniture couple easily be updated and also carpets. Maybe that's not required because the Romantik is one of a number of hotels all seem to be owned by the same family and the Romantik is particularly well located in the centre of the town. Still it could do with a spruce up. Don't be put off though. The other hotel I tried is a much lower cost and much more modern, still owned by the same family and within 20 yards of the Romantik. It's the B & F. Perfectly good, just lacks a restaurant, is very minimalist but perfectly good for a short stay.

Lovely hotel but spoiled by rude and ignorant service. Sat at the terrace on the main square and waited a good ten minutes before an unfriendly waiter appeared to take my order. I tried to order in German but it was obviously unappreciated, no eye contact and no politeness at all! Later, ordered from a female waitress who was equally unfriendly and equally unappreciative of my efforts to speak German and even had the nerve to tell me In what I felt was an offhand manner, “please speak English if you are struggling to speak German”. It’s not surprising that it was the only empty place in the very busy square!
