Diamond Resort Vang Vieng

We stayed here for 3 nights while in Vang Vieng. While on the train we got a little scared due the reviews but decided to check it out anyway. After 3 perfect nights i’m happy to say this resort is perfectly acceptable. Everything was clean, the hosts were kind and while the breakfast wast mostly Lao we were able to order perfectly good omelettes and pancakes. Location was perfect, just enough out of the city to avoid the busy hostels. The hosts got a tuktuk at the resort within 5 minutes. I agree the resort shows it’s age but for Laos standard it’s absolutely fine and there seems to be a lot of effort done to better the experience.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Staff is really helpful and friendly. And the breakfast menu is amazing! Definitely try the pancakes, they are addicting!! However the hotel still needs a lot of work, for example some of the swimming pool tiles are loose, there are a lot of loose wires where I'm guessing there used to be lamps, the breakfast area seems unfinished and the beds next to the pool are old and some are broken or about to break. But these are all small things, it's still a really nice resort!

Mixed experience. On the good side, the price is very competitive considering the season average. The pool is good, and the view is quite nice. On the negative side, the service is a bit low, with staff that doesn’t appear to have proper training, breakfast quite poor and room amenities on the cheap side. With a few improvement it could be so much better. Still good value if you don’t plan to spend your vacation in hotel and only use it to relax after a day spent outside!
