Found Digby Pines very last minute due to an issue with our initial reservation through another company. Elevator was out of service but the staff on duty were very helpful to get our luggage up the stairs. We had a room with 2 twin beds - very comfy, great water pressure in the shower. Would have loved to have a small fridge but not the end of the world! Breakfast buffet was incredible and day staff was just as helpful as the night before. Will certainly look into this as a planned visit in the future!

We had a lovely 3 night “staycation” at Digby Pines last week. We thoroughly enjoyed it – but there are caveats, and we fully appreciate why some recent reviewers were not happy. The positives: It is in a beautiful location! The grounds and gardens are lovely, and Digby is a sweet community. The whole place has a “grand old” vibe that we really appreciated. There are plenty of places to sit and relax, inside and out. Our room (202) was comfortable and charming, with extra seating and a bay window. While it was clearly dated, it was very clean, and the bed was comfy. The breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide selection of options to suit. The outdoor pool is large and clean, with lots of room to swim laps even with other people in it. Finally, the staff were all very friendly and polite, and clearly made an effort to be attentive. The negatives: The whole place is in serious need of renovation. The rooms are dated – and while we appreciated the charm, the walls are very thin, and the bathroom, while clean, probably hasn’t been updated since the 80’s. The elevator was broken, so anyone with mobility issues will struggle, as stairs are used to get everywhere. The pool, while lovely, was unheated (broken boiler), so while refreshing in hot weather, needs to be repaired for later in the season. The universal gym equipment was “out of service” but there was a treadmill, yoga equipment and weights. The tennis court hasn’t been used for years, although the tall weeds pushing through the middle could be used as a net (kidding). Finally, the one dinner we had in the restaurant was good, not great, and NOT worth $200 by any stretch (we don't drink). We felt badly for the staff, who did their utmost to be positive and professional. We heard the front staff apologizing a lot. There is hope: investments have been made in heating and cooling systems, with brand new heat pumps in every room and new units in the main dining room. These are expensive to undertake, and hopefully indicate the owners' commitment to further renovate the rooms. We would hate to see the rooms be completely modernized -- part of the experience here is the history -- but insulation and updated bathroom fixtures are required at a minimum. So we will definitely go back – perhaps not before they renovate, and definitely not for dinner. If you are okay with nostalgia, you too might get beyond the issues and enjoy your time. The staff will work hard to make your stay a good one. It is a lovely place, but if you require modern amenities, you might want to hold off.

One of the worst hotels we've ever stayed in. We stayed in one of the chalets. We were 4 adults and two children. The room was an hour late for check-in. Once inside, what a disappointment. It was so shabby. It smelled strongly of humidity. The beds were really uncomfortable. The bathroom was scary old and there was mold on the ceiling. The Churchill restaurant wants to play it gourmet, but the food was far from it. The buffet-style breakfast was okay. This was our first stay at Digby Pines and definitely our last.
