DoubleTree by Hilton Kingston

Overall the hotel should be good. Newly renovated and looked good for the most part. Room was good but yes it's a small but nice bathroom. Service is lacking though. When we checked in at 5pm I was told our room was ready (which is should be) but there were no linens or towels in the room. Apparently issues with laundry equipment. Instead of just saying something when I checked in and maybe offering an apology and a free breakfast, somehow the front desk decided the sound strategy was not to mention anything. So we get to the room and then immediately need to head back to the front desk. They provided a free breakfast which was appreciated. Breakfast the next day was overall tasty and served in a nice renovated space. Generally speaking we had much better service and experience in Delta Hotels in Montreal and Quebec for around the same price, although we did reserve our room only one night before which made our rate high for what we got. Other notable comments, $3 waters in room is ridiculous and $23 for breakfast is also crazy high considering its just a buffet, water should be provided for all at this price point along with coffee and juices.

The hotel is a bit outside downtown but still convenient. My room was clean and spacious, though the bed was softer than I prefer, and housekeeping didn’t refill the toilet paper or tissues. The real disappointment was the on-site restaurant, Cannery Kitchen. Service was far below what I expect from Hilton. Long waits as we had to wait for our server to come, and a very limited selection. I was looking forward to eggs benedict after reading other reviews, but with the included breakfast, it was buffet style only, which I consider a huge downgrade. Dirty dishes stacked on my table, and I even had to refill my own coffee. I wanted to echo that I recently stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Montreal, which clearly had a higher standard in both service and breakfast quality. This Kingston location did not meet that same level. Overall, the hotel itself was good and I’d stay again, but the restaurant was a major letdown for a Hilton property.

Tried to early check in in the morning but staff didn't even check before saying I can't do early check in. Safe was out of battery once checked in. Took more than 30 minutes and still no one comes. Spider web on ceiling of corner. Wallpaper is dated. One of the lights didn't work. Bathroom ventilation is non existence. Not Hilton experience. GM needs to get questioned.
