We spent two nights at this Doubletree hotel for an outbound and inbound stop during our travels. Overall, this hotel is attractive, clean, well-maintained, and has a very helpful staff. The room was spacious and includes two adjoining rooms, a bed, a sofa, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. The bathroom is particularly attractive and the shower is quite spacious. The bed was comfortable. There is also a mini-refrigerator and microwave oven for those leftover food items that you couldn't quite finish off the first time around. The grounds of the hotel are attractive. There is a pool available plus a variety of sitting areas with plenty of shade. We also enjoyed dining at Brix, the on-site restaurant. We enjoyed the blackened salmon tacos, the chips and guacamole, and a chicken flatbread. All were delicious and well-presented. Finally, this is very affordable hotel and it is also situated near the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport.
Overall, an excellent hotel with fantastic service. The airport shuttle accommodates infants which is super useful. The reason we didn't give this place 5 stars however was due to maintenance/usability. The bathroom was frustrating. The dual shower/shower wand controls were not intuitive to use. Also, the motion sensing lights in the bathroom, while snazzy, didn't detect movement in the shower itself. In other words, the room would go completely dark every few minutes while I was bathing. The only way to turn it back on was to open the shower door and wave at the switch, which was as amusing as it was awkward. My other (minor) gripe was that a couple of elevators in the hotel were out of order. This led to longer wait times. In general, this would be a non issue. However, the elevators are located in outdoor common areas and waiting for a car in the July Phoenix heat is admittedly a nuisance. To reiterate, this is an excellent hotel, and we will be staying again. However, those few minor issues keep me from giving the hotel a five star endorsement.
I would describe this place as a glorified Motel 6. Furniture is old. I hope it wasn't riddled with bugs because it looks that disgusting. The frontdesk person was rude. I was here with my partner and she barely talked to me because the room was under his name. Keep in mind that I booked the room. She gave my partner the wrong room number and neglected to explain the lay out. She just handed him a map. It was so confusing. We drove around at least twice until we figured out our entrance. She didn't tell us where the elevator was and we carried our suitcases up four floors. I have a hip injury that I am recovering and lifting my heavy bags was not helping my pain. The neighborhood is shady. Then the parking is a nightmare. You have to pay on an app. What do you do if you don't have a smart phone? You are S.O.L. You are looking for nice hotel close to the airport? This is not it. I would not recommend this place. Run as fast as you can.
