Dreams Playa Esmeralda Resort & Spa

My wife and I stayed here during soft opening, July 7th to 12th. We had a wonderful time! It was only booked to about 1/4 capacity so it was not at all crowded, which was very nice. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The staff worked so hard to do whatever they could. Two different restaurants were open every evening and the food (and steak) was amazing. Big thanks to Eury on the entertainment team for taking time to talk with us and share about his life. Also, Adrian and Emery were great servers by the pool! And Wandy and Yorka were excellent waiters in the restraunts. There are many more people we could mention. Beach is very nice with not much sea weed. Rooms are very nice and comfy also. A few suggestions: AC was a little slow in our room 3202 and never cooled down to what thermostat was set for. It would be nice to see hammocks or swings at various spots to relax in.

Beautiful Location. The resort is in a soft opening currently, and the staff are learning their roles. Steakhouse was the best restaurant. Brenda at the pool area is always full of energy. Adriana at the pool bar is the best. Mildred at the piano bar is wonderful. It will be interesting to see how the resort does during the full opening. Our group of 10 had a blast and would recommend the resort.

This resort will be 5/5 stars in the near future, I'm sure. As of the first week of August 2025, they were still working out some service kinks... Because the resort is situated in an area that hasn't had a lot of tourism, to date, many of the staff are still being trained to the expectations of a Secrets resort. That said, we received outstanding service from Mildred at the preferred pool; she was a true professional, making exceptional drinks, remembering everyone's names and orders, and training up the other staff around her. This woman should be celebrated and promoted!! I also received a really fantastic massage at the spa from Yanny. Seemed like the spa hydrotherapy section was still under construction, but the service room was very comfortable and the service itself was 10/10. Other resort highlights include pistachio ice cream from Coco Cafe, the gym amenities, and nightly entertainment at the piano bar.
