Eco Hotel Black & White Anuradhapura

The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The breakfast was excellent. The room was really nice. Just some frogs in the bathroom 🫣

This place has been the worst place that I have ever visited. The hotel is located in the middle of nowhere and the road to the hotel is just a tiny dirt road that a small bus can barely drive in. The entrance is literally having a large tree at the entrance making it very tight of a fit for a small bus. The staff also very biased towards foreigners and disregard local guests. The staff do not consider requests made by local guests and rather shows much more concern towards a request made by a foreign guest. Additionally there is a huge concern with the rooms as the door cannot be closed without locking it from the outside or inside thus the door will be opened by the wind if it is just closed without keeping it locked. Thus the inside of the room can be seen by anyone jence there is no privacy at all amd concerms anyone's safety. Futher there is a glass pane as tall as the door and somewhat wide next to the door of the room. This window is having a curtain that does not close properly which leaves small gaps that let someone to see the inside if looking from an angle. There also was a frog in the washroom that had entered through the ventilation of the washroom which makes the washroom not clean and also the toilet is not containing matching peices and is just made with random toilet pieces. The pool is also very filthy as the staff do not change the water but just add chlorine to the same dirty water and during this process the kid's pool which all the chlorine is added to looks milky white and this water is pumped to the main pool. The pictures put up on the internet are misleading as the hotel only maintains the garden area. Hence I do not suggest this hotel if you visit to Anuradhapura or Mihinthalaya.

We checked into the Eco Hotel Black & White on July 10, 2025. My room's air conditioning was not working. In addition, it smelled funky. We talked to the reception, and they agreed to switch me to another room. My friends and I then took off for Anuradhapura. After returning to Black & White, I was given a key to my new room. It was worse than the first room! There was an ant colony living behind the bed. Bugs and dirt on the bedspread. When I opened the bathroom door, I was hit by a wave of humid heat and foul smells. Then I noticed a frog in the toilet! The sink was backed up, and the faucet was loose. I texted my friend "H" that I would be sleeping outside because the room was disgusting! H told me that him and his wife were not satisfied with their gross room, either!! H and I went to the office, but nobody was there because it was around midnight. So, we packed-up and loaded our suitcases in the car to take off to find another hotel. (It wasn't easy to find another hotel after midnight, but we did manage to find a nice place!) The night security man noticed that we were about to leave, so he and some other men surrounded our car, and they demanded to know where we were going. H told them in Sinhala that our rooms are disgusting and that we looked for someone at the office, but nobody was there. They knew that we were right about the rooms, so they let us leave.
