Erbil Quartz Hotel falls short of the standard expected from a 5-star establishment. During our two-night stay, several issues stood out. The towels and sheets showed visible wear, no longer white but beige or cream, with some sheets even having holes. The bath jacuzzi leaked, the chair in the room was stained, and the suite's thermostat was locked to a cooling setting, making the room uncomfortably cold with no way to raise the temperature. Breakfast was disappointing, with several items lacking freshness, and the juices were artificial and tasted awful. Traveling with a small baby added to the challenges. We had two connected rooms for the five of us—a suite and a standard room. While suite room felt bright and inviting, the other room happened to face pipes area with no proper windows or ventilation. Smoke from the cafe downstairs filled the reception area, creating an unpleasant environment for families. While the hotel has great potential due to its location and layout, significant improvements are necessary to meet higher standards. Solid 3 stars for this experience.
If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. I stayed here during an extreme heatwave, and the room conditioning was absolutely terrible. I was moved to two different rooms, and neither had working air conditioning. It was like sleeping in an oven. The reception staff were not just unhelpful—they were passive-aggressive and made it feel like I was a burden for asking for basic service. The maintenance person was rude and dismissive, as if I should just deal with the unbearable heat. To make it worse, the room lacked basic amenities—no iron, and most things didn’t even work. It felt like the hotel had just given up on maintaining any standard. Save your money and your sanity. This place is a disaster. Never again.
Horrifying Experience – Bed Bugs, Rude Manager, and Stolen Belongings We’ve stayed at budget hostels and all kinds of accommodations over the years and yet, nothing comes close to the shocking experience we had at Erbil Quartz Hotel. What’s worse is that this place falsely markets itself as a 5-star hotel, when in reality, it doesn’t even meet the standards of basic hygiene. On our very first night, we discovered a bed bug crawling in our bed. When we reported it, the response was completely dismissive we were told “it might just be one.” We insisted they take it seriously and call the manager, who turned out to be shockingly rude, arrogant, and completely unprofessional. After hours of arguing, we were moved to another room — but the manager refused to refund us for the night we had spent in the infested room. He only agreed to refund us for the following night. To make matters worse, we had left chocolates from our home country in the fridge of the original room — a gift for friends. When we asked about it the next day, they told us the cleaning staff had either taken it or thrown it away, despite the fact that we were still staying at the hotel. When we returned to the original room to check ourselves, the bed had been pulled away from the wall, revealing clusters of bed bug eggs proving this was not a single bed bug, but a clear infestation that the hotel had ignored. What’s even more disturbing is that when we later checked the hotel’s Google reviews, we saw another reviewer had reported bed bugs just a few months ago. So the hotel was clearly aware of this issue and still failed to properly deal with it. That level of negligence is absolutely unacceptable. This hotel does not care about guest safety, comfort, or hygiene. The manager was not only incompetent but showed zero empathy or accountability. This hotel is a health hazard masquerading as a luxury stay. The regular staff were kind and tried to help, but they’re powerless under such poor leadership. I would honestly rather sleep on the streets than ever return to this hotel. It doesn’t deserve a single star. Avoid this hotel at all costs!!
