Is it kitsch? Sure. Is it fake? Absolutely. Is it over the top? Most definitely. And that's why we like it so much! The rooms are cosy, the staff is friendly, breakfast is fabulous. But as far as we're concerned: the inner patio with the "dancing fountains" makes it our favourite hotel (and we've done a few!) The yearly stay with our little family at the Colosseo (and Europa-Park itself, of course), has been the highlight of our year for the last decade. And it will stay that way for some years to come, we're sure!
If you are going to Europa Park, this is an awesome hotel to stay at! The location is terrific, directly across the street from the hotel guest park entrance, and you don't even have to "cross the road" since there is an underground tunnel. Using the Hotel App for Europa Park, you get notified when the room is ready and when you arrive, you can go straight to the room using your phone app as the room key. The hotel is really beautiful. The reception area is beautifully decorated. The restaurants are really good (breakfast and dinner). There is a kids play area that is 3-levels. It can get a bit chaotic but fun place for kids to unwind. The outdoor patio area has a nice sitting area to see the "fountain" show and has the colosseum in the background. We had a suite, and I found it very hard to find info on Colosseo suites, so I hope the pictures and my description will help someone. As you enter the suite to the right is the bathroom. There is a separate room with toilet and sink, and then the main bathroom with two sinks and a bathtub. And if you have little kids, what I call a "hobbit" bathroom. Small little hole in the wall for kids, toilet and sink ... no door ... but very cute. If you continue straight there is the living room with the bunk beds. And then off of the living room is the bedroom with a queen sized bed. There are also doors to a patio outside. Alas, the bedroom does not have any A/C vents so it does get stuffy in the room. But if you don't mind the lack of vents, then the room should be fine. The hotel is truly very nice and would highly recommend it!
Really enjoyed staying here. Very convenient for the park. Loved the bar for an early evening Aperol spritz. Good selection of restaurants. Evening lights/fountain/dancing show really impressive Our room overlooked the central piazza which was very atmospheric but some might find a bit noisy as you could hear the children playing in the fountains and general hubbub. We were also quite close the lobby which we could hear. It was all pretty quiet by 11. Room was good, although would have been good to have a fridge and coffee making facility. Main room with double and sofa bed. Nice little attached separate room with bunk beds and desk. I booked a large room which said it slept 6 for 4 people and had called to try to add our eldest adult daughter to the booking a few weeks before our arrival but was told it was a room for 4 and no bigger rooms available. So booked her into another hotel in town. When we arrived it was clearly a room for 6 including the sofa bed (which was what I understood I’d booked originally) we were able to add her in at arrival, but it ended up losing the cost of the additional room booking.
