The EXES is a great hotel for a family stay. It has a master bedroom and master bath, plus another bedroom and bath. In addition, the living room and dining room are quite spacious. The view overlooks the pool and grounds, and in the distance is Miyara Bay. It is more in the countryside, so not much local traffic. There is a shopping center a about 15 minutes walk. The buffet breakfast is very extensive, with Western and Japanese dishes to choose among. It also includes a served choice of three egg styles (including scrambled and omelette) plus toast or french toast. A coffee machine dispenses regular, cappuccino, cafe latte or espresso. In the afternoon, tea time from 2 to 5 is good for coffee, tea, fruit and cakes. The dinner menu is elaborate: appetizer: salmon, prosciutto, beef terrain, pate. My favorite Ishigakijima Local Beer "Marine Beer", and all kinds of other alcoholic beverages. White fish (maybe sea bass, broccoli, tomato and scallop. Ishigaki beef, medium rare (oh! so rich and tender!) with mashed potatoes, zucchini and tomato. Dessert: multi-layer cake, strawberry, pudding with coffee jelly topping, and coffee. Alternatively, the room service menu is extensive, reasonably priced and quite good. For example, karaage chicken, French fries & shrimp or pizza and a salad. Beer and other drinks are available in the refrigerator. It's an enjoyable walk south to the seashore, or west to the coral beach. There is a local farmers market just down the street, and a okonomiyaki restaurant around the corner. Other restaurants and coffee shops are a bit farther, but a pleasant walk. Free WiFi is provided. Staff are friendly and helpful.
Amazing hotel and service. Was there in October, right after the typhoon season, and this is a really bad idea. If you can't handle over 100 degrees F. and 85% humidity, better steer clear from Ishigaki :-) For a non local, the heat is almost unbearable. But again according to the locals, March is the best season to visit
Exhausting communication with hotel staff was unfair for price. So unfortunate quality with hotel staff..... I made phone call to the hotel about late check in. The staff responded "don't be late and come to check in earlier" To me Even 24hrs reception??? for check in, my friend didn't show up and the receptionist demanded her identification card and didn't let me check in in 15min... Finally, I asked help to the receptionist at the next counter who had ignored our conversation finally allowed me check in at 11pm. Room was ok, spacious. Weird experience with staffs...
