Many many years ago when we first visited my friends in Miaoli, we stayed in this hotel which was very near to their house. This time we returned to the same so that my friends could just swing by to fetch us for dinner or tour. The hotel had a refreshing look, very bright with natural lights shining in. Lobby was spacious. Cars could park outside the hotel along the roads which were not congested at all. Hotel entrance was facing a huge, green park with running tracks. There were many people jogging and having dancing activities at the compound in the morning. There were also sellers in van or by foot selling vegetables they displayed. A very unique and warm sight to me. It catered to every young and old person. I wasn’t too sure if we could flag down taxis here, it was a quiet location. We were allocated a corner room, a big room with windows facing the park. Lights were a little dim though especially in the bathroom. At night, there were heavy thuddings above our unit like something fell. The guests next door banged the door loudly, voices raised and we could hear them talking. Other than these minor issues, all was good. It was of lightning speed that the room service carried an iron & the board over to us as soon as we hung up the phone. The hotel didn’t provide tooth paste & brushes due to saving the environment, we brought ours. Other things like shampoo or soap (dispenser stick on shower walls) and bath towels were provided. Breakfast at ground level, Cing Yan, was wholesome, I usually had porridge. The venue was neat and clean, buffet spread was considered more than sufficient as replenishments were available. Service staff worked hard to serve guests. The front desk staff were a little aloof, they couldn’t pause their phone calls to attend to our checking-out, we waited for a while though there was no queue. Even at check-in, staff was fairly distant, no smiles no greetings on our arrival day. Basement carparks we didn’t use, saw the directory in the lift. We didn’t use the gym or other facilities as we were touring other places. Generally a nice and comfortable hotel. Would consider returning if we revisit Miaoli.
In general, the appearance of the hotel is a 10/10, the staff are also really polite and soft spoken. However, there is one thing that I am genuinely disappointed. The parking lot of the hotel was poorly designed and is obviously not made for the full capacity of hotel residence. My family had to drive around for an hour (in the rain) to find a parking spot as the area within and nearby the hotel. In the end, we have to park by the road.
Quite honestly the worst hotel experience I've ever had. After checking in, the AC was not working until a worker came in and gave an estimated time of 30-60 minutes to cool down the room. The front desk staffs are awfully slow at their jobs, taking the most of their time before assisting a customer. The aesthetics of the room does look slightly decent. However, the door seal also fell off for the bathroom so there was some water leaking out as we use the bathroom.
