Grand Sirenis Cartagena

I recently stayed at Cartagena Karmairi - Adults Only and overall, it was a lovely experience. The hotel itself is very nice and the atmosphere is relaxing. One of the biggest highlights was the incredible staff—everyone was welcoming and kind, but JHON truly stole the show. He was beyond amazing—super friendly, gave us a great tour of the place, and was incredibly attentive throughout our stay. However, there were a couple of things that could be improved. The buffet was a bit of a hit or miss—some meals were good, but others lacked variety and flavor. Also, despite being advertised as an “adults only” hotel, we did notice children on the property, which was a bit surprising and took away from the expected adults-only ambiance. That said, JHON’s hospitality and the overall charm of the place made our stay enjoyable.

This is not a 5 star hotel, let alone a resort. Way overpriced for what it offers. Here are the issues I encountered. 1. There was a freaking cockroach crawling on the tables were the buffet is offered, just a few inches away from the food. A small insect also crawled away from my plate of cheese. 2. The gym is a huge disappointment. Half of the dumbbells are missing and there was only 1 weight machine. It’s poorly equipped and 75% of the room is just empty. 3. Had to kill close to 10 Mosquitos a night inside the room. We didn’t have any open windows, but somehow they came in through the bathroom. 4. Our room was 15 minutes late past check-in time. No apologies or courtesy from the staff. 5. Food variety is very limited for an all in. The “snacks” in between the meals were terrible. 6. They sold us on the hotel “having its own beach”. It was full of trash and infested with people selling stuff and trying to rip it you off. 7. This is not an “adults only”, it was full of kids. 8. Room service didn’t exchange our towels when cleaning the room. 9. We knew the location is far away from the city, but thought the hotel would be better, so we could stay in and enjoy the hat we paid. 10. The property has numerous water leaks. First day, there was some rain and water was pouring from the room into the lobby. For the price mark, there are way better options available. A lot of my comments are reflected in reviews from several months ago, so not much has improved! This place has some potential but is poorly managed.

not sure how this is 5* Food is awful and staff seem like they can’t be bothered to do anything for you. Every morning the food was cold and every evening as well, they only had a few options for snacks in the day and the alcoholic drinks were certainly watered down. As found a hair in my cup of coffee one morning and a hair in our chicken one evening. The only good thing was the fish restaurant however it was closed the second night we wanted to go. If you’re looking for luxury this isn’t it! We paid €1000 and it has felt like a big waste of money. STAY AWAY!
