It’s an absolute privilege to stay in such a historic and tranquil place. It’s been a truly unforgettable experience staying here. I hope I get the chance to stay there again in the future. We stayed in a charming traditionally decorated room with a veranda in the spectacular grounds of the colonial castle building which was built in 1580! But you can get to stay in the castle too! The grounds are spectacular. The pool is beautiful and clean. We enjoyed swimming in it during a storm! And watching the animals from the pool: multiple birds of all sorts, iguanas, a peacock, ants beetles etc. And as the sun set the sounds changed to crickets and frogs. Truly magical. In the morning there was a loud dawn chorus from the birds. Fabulous!! Points to note: It is 15 minutes drive from the town so a car is useful There is no bar and the restaurant has limited hours. The rooms are decorated in a plan traditional style.
Beautifil Hacienda with a big garden, clean rooms and a delicious breakfast. Only Point to be critisized is the fact that the Restaurant doesn't serve Dinner in the evening e.g. was closed
Ok. So I’m probably going to say the same thing as every other one-starer, ‘cause they speak facts. We got there at night, starving only to find that the restaurant, looking as dingy as a basement, was closed until the morning. No dinner. The reception room look strange - as if it wasn’t even part of the building…oh wait - it wasn’t. With only one desk to go to, we walked towards it, only to find one staff worker for the whole hotel. He showed us inside a strange looking place he said was made in the early 1500s but it was only till the mid-late 1500s did the Spanish start building and conquering the Yucatán. Our room was underneath in a place that looked like the dungeons - and I’m led to believe there once were. There were too many things making noise in our room also. The AC was flung on the ceiling so when we slept there was a bothering buzz. The fridge wouldn’t stop rattling as if it trying to warn us about the cleanliness. It seemed as though the bed was the only thing touched ever since this place opened. The pictures are very deceiving. However, the outside is quite relaxing to walk around. Overall, I would not recommend, but I’m sure these 5 star people like oldish grandma style in-the-middle-of-nowhere strange stuff.
