Herdade das Barradas da Serra

A truly special place with heart and history. We visited this beautiful family-run farm, now in its 5th generation of cork production, and were absolutely impressed. Even though we didn't stay overnight, the owner took the time to personally show us around and explain the fascinating process of cork harvesting. You can truly feel his passion for what he does – it's inspiring. We enjoyed a delicious lunch made with fresh, local ingredients from the farm. Everything tasted authentic and full of flavor. The entire place has a peaceful, calming atmosphere, surrounded by nature. The centuries-old cork oak trees are majestic and radiate a quiet strength. This is a perfect spot for anyone looking to unwind, learn something unique, and experience the soul of rural life in Portugal. Highly recommended!

This is the second time we have stayed at Herade das Barradas da Serra. I cannot say enough good things about this charming place- Francisco and his staff are welcoming, kind, accommodating and just generally lovely. The rooms are clean, have a lot of character and the beds are so comfortable. The food is wonderful- we had 2 dinners there as well as lunch and loved everything. Delicious traditional food made with care. Truly recommend this peaceful oasis!

Wonderful place for a quiet get away! We stayed with our little family for 6 nights. Everyone was very welcoming and pleased to help. A must do is to hike on the trails within the property 5-10km (depending on the one you choose). They are easy to find as they are well signed and lead through a beautiful cork oak forest. Within 15min you can reach the beach by car. Cosy living/dining room with a fireplace. The food offered for lunch and dinner is simple but delicious. Try the scrambled egg with chorizo and asparagus and the homemade ice-cream. Breakfast was very varied. We will definitely come back!
