Hestia Hotel Barons Old Town

It was more 4.5 but I don’t want to take a star from this great place - yes the room is small but fresh, yes it is hard to get here with luggage due to brick road, but this is expected from city center hotel located in old building. Room was clean and modern - fresh and functional. Location is walkable from the hotel steps. Great to start your day with city center walk. Breakfast had great variety of fresh local products.

Barons is supposed to be an elegant 4 star hotel. In reality it's an old old place lacking maintenance. Do not trust the pictures you see on line. Look at mine. They show how depressing it can be the overall atmosphere. Kind of dark, old carpet in the common rooms, wall paper falling apart (in rooms and hotel corridors...). The bathroom is small, shower inside the bath tub and no fence to prevent the water from wetting the floor, few plugs to charge your devices, and those near the bed are BEHIND its tables, the couch is assembled with staples!!! Breakfast is mediocre, they offer French crepes with the name of "pancakes", if you arrive 45 to 30 minutes before the end of the service you may not find the daily cake, they have 3 different red jams with no name specified, on the last day they completely went out of Nutella (which was annoying for kids...and Italians!), the silverware of the buffet is often overused and dirty, i.e. no one keeps the common tables neat. All of this is not acceptable if your hotel level is supposed to be high. When you arrive for the check in you will immediately notice the reception appears much much better in the official pictures. What a disappointment!

This is a two seperate building hotel. First issue, the elavator beside the stair in unsafe. The small elavator in new building will fit two people with two big luggage both have backpack and the other one with hand bag. We use the elevator to our room floor , I can't turn around to go out so exit the elevator backwards not knowing that there is a stairs. Lucky me I hold into something and got my feet on a right place. It is a split second life and death situation. Second issue, the card key is not working at our room so my wife back to the main building. while waiting for my wife, I called her and ask if they can give ask a room in the main building. By the way the room price at new building is higher than what we got but it is ok because I don't have to see again the "killer elevator stair". By the way my wife told the hotel attendant what happen to me and there is no reaction at all. I think they know that the "elevator and the stair" is unsafe because they made some iron works on the floor between stairs and elevator but it is still unsafe.
