We stayed at this hotel 4 nights before going a cruise. Our first impression was that it appeared to be dated and it is a bit sterile and ‘soulless’. However, the room was fine, quiet, the bed was good and so was the bathroom. There are no bathrobes provided in the room , however, when I asked at reception they brought 2 up to our room pretty quickly. Apart from a couple of tea bags and a coffee machine the bar fridge was empty. BUT, the overall service was nothing short of outstanding, from reception to the staff in the restaurant. Very friendly, genuine and attentive service!! Breakfast was good and dinner at the restaurant was fantastic! A great menu and a good selection of wines and other beverages! We were quite impressed. As far as the location is concerned; it’s good! A lovely 10 min walk into the CBD and all shops and many restaurants within walking distance. In fact, a great restaurant around the corner in the next street behind the hotel. The cruise terminal is about 5 min away (by taxi). We recommend this hotel and would stay here again!
Stayed 3 nights over 2 stays, & rooms on front are preferred with water views some parking on site & lots of on street parking available. Reception was often busy when tour buses arrived - usually only 2 staff to book in a coach of guests. Rooms were basic hotel rooms - bit older hotel but comfortable. Good lifts. Staff happy to store bags. Bar/meals on ground floor with indoor air conditioned tables or outside on covered deck overlooking the pool & gardens. Food was OK- standard hotel breakfast options. Only short walk to Darwin CBD, & esplanade Park just across the road to enjoy, exercise in or read the various story boards about WW2 in Darwin.
Can’t fault the service, the rooms are big, comfortable and modern. The hotel is dated, it does need a revamp, the telltale signs of things needing repairing and replacing are not easy to hide any more. The restaurant is very good, the food is excellent. No room service, very frustrating, the little convenience corner down stairs has the basics. The fridge is empty other than six little cups of plastic milk, horrible. Location is excellent, the walk across the road into the park area and along the water’s edge is fantastic.
