Hotel Ascona

I got a free room upgrade. Everything is superlative, the ideal hotel to spend your vacation. Friendly staff, ready to help you, polite. It offers quality services. The room was large, the bed mattress relaxing and the view from the room terrace was wonderful. The room was clean all the time, the cleaning service came every day. Very good food, both breakfast and dinner. The lack of vegetables in the morning was a minus. The water in the pool was the ideal temperature. Thank you, it was wonderful!

Amazing hotel with a view over Ascona city. Nice pool and friendly stuff. Really clean and with a really tasty breakfast. Family owned and close to the city center.

We booked one of their rooms facing the mountain-side without a balcony and were well aware, that we're not going to get a luxurious suite but the room we were put in was something you wouldn't even find in a two star hotel in the provinces (the 90s are calling). The room looked completely different from the pictures on the booking platform/their website and lacked an air condition, which was listed as one of the room's amenities and could be seen on the advertised pictures (see attached pictures). With temperatures close to 30 degrees at night, the heat in the room was unbearable and the very loud/dilapidated fan in the room was of no use. Laying on the bed, sweating ourselves to sleep, we also noticed that the locked door to the adjacent room was so thin, that we could join in on conversations with our neighbours and follow up on their bowel movements. The hotel offered us to change rooms for the second night but the horrible first night we experienced made us want to leave asap. Unfortunately, the hotel denied our request to cancel the second night and would not give us a refund, even though we clearly did not get what we paid for. On a positive note: The breakfast was good and the location is great.
