Hotel Boutique Casa Muuch Holbox

You are misled. We booked through booking, where the pictures are completly outdated. It looks like a exklusive boutique hotel on the beach, which it was probably back in the day. There is huge construction right next to the hotel (wall to wall) and they tell you nothing about it before!!! The beach is gone (literally), the ocean goes right to the hotel now and there is ugly concrete barriers in the water. Its not their fault, but it is just not fair to keep the old pictures on the booking sites. The staff and rooms are nice, the breakfast is great too. Its just unfair that you pay 230 USD per night and expect a beach and calm and you get nonstop construction noise and no beach. Also the water didn‘t work around the clock, sometkmes there was no water for 1-2 h..

After an incredible journey through the Yucatán, we wanted to end on a high note in Holbox and booked a three-night stay at Casa Muuch. Unfortunately, the experience fell far short of our expectations. First, the outdoor space and beach shown in the photos no longer exist, as the area is now submerged by the sea. Guests are left with no choice but to use the overcrowded partner beach club next to the hotel. The hotel is sandwiched between two beach clubs , both playing loud music daily. Additionally, ongoing construction work on the adjacent building part of the same structure as Casa Muuch adds to the noise. To make matters worse, we had no running water for several days, meaning no showers and no way to flush the toilets. The tense atmosphere among other guests was palpable, and the manager’s communication was extremely poor, as she struggled to justify the various shortcomings. At first, she offered a partial refund, but once we had left, she only proposed compensation for half of one night stay. Overall, this was an extremely disappointing experience, and to be completely honest, this hotel is best avoided.

Would not recommend, major renovations in progress with lots of noise. Beach area no longer exists with the expansion and rising sea levels. They were not transparent with us about the building work, booked and paid in May 2024 arrived in February 2025 very disappointed and not prepared to stay. Another guest on her honey moon was in tears saying it was nothing like the pictures and now there was no running water to have a shower. If you read past reviews this seems a major problem. We eventually got 80% our money back , but because the exchange rate had dropped the refused to pay back in full. Not a very nice exchange of communication or experience . It left a very bad feeling about the whole holiday sadly.
