Simple but serene hostel in a quiet residential area of Granada, less than a mile from the city centre. A taxi to the centre is only $1 but we walked as it was very interesting route past the market or along a quiet residential street. The owner is lovely, incredibly helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is good. The accommodation is basic but clean and comfortable, a/c is an extra cost we didn’t need to use the a/c as the ceiling fan is effective. Highly recommend using their tour guide (joccander?)who will give you a bespoke tour for far less than other tour operators. We had an amazing, informative and slightly crazy day with her travelling on local transport to the Catarina lookout then swimming and lunch in the Laguna De Apoya, then sunset at the active Volcán Masaya, the tour was €25 + bus fares and entrance fees. Excellent value for money! If you want luxury be in the middle of tourists then this may not for you but for adventuring travellers looking for authentic accommodation at a great price then I would not hesitate to recommend a stay at Casa Barcelona.

This hotel is beautiful, it is not very luxurious but if you want to have a good day this is the hotel you need. This hotel benefits from breakfast included, its rooms are very clean and cozy, the services it offers are very feasible, its location is in a good place close to many stores selling different types of things.

Nice rooms and comfy bed but I can't stress enough how unsafe we felt on our walk to/from the hostel. It was our second place in Granada so we were used to the city but this was WAY out of the tourist zone. We thought it was only a few streets back so would be fine but I really wouldn't recommend staying here, particularly as a solo traveler. As we walked from our first other hostel, we had to change our route as one of the roads said you could walk down but it was actually a dead end. When we tried to reroute a local firmly told us that we should not go that way, which felt because it wasn't safe and we didn't want to take the risk. We then re-routed a third time through the local market and felt incredibly unsafe and uneasy about having all our valuables on us and phones out as it was like a maze to navigate. It may be safer to walk down Calle Atravesada but we didn't risk it. Taxi is $1 per person to central so an alternative but we'd read that there are lots of unauthorised taxis that were unsafe so be warned. They have chickens and they are loud from 5am so that's fun.
