Hotel Cava Colchagua

Great safe location to enjoy the experience of staying in a giant real wine barrel. the property was beautiful and well maintained to perfection. the staff was excellent and the meals were great. We really enjoy a bottle of the house blend while relaxing in the private hot tubs. If you are wine touring, why not stay in a wine hotel. we loved it.

If I was capable of leaving a one word review it would be “Wow!” But, I am not. I was concerned on the drive in. We drive through a quite industrial area, down little back roads and no where near (my imagined) open fields. I thought - this is not going to be nice. But the way they’ve laid out the property makes it feel like you’re in expansive fields with no one around for miles. There is a beautiful pool, tho while we were here it was very heavily chlorinated and made it a bit uncomfortable. There is vineyard scattered all around you. The expanse of green leaves against the stark blue skies is stunning. I can only imagine it is even more beautiful as the reds and golds of the autumnal colors of fall wash through. There is a little park on the back side of the property with plenty of seating, a small lake and a boat. The wine barrel rooms are beautifully designed and well thought out with the windows facing toward specific areas. We were lucky and our window faced the sunsets so we could watch the sun sink into the grape vines as the light and colors morphed in the sky all from the comfort of our bed. The staff were so amazing, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. If I was being picky, the downsides were there are no hand towel holders in the bathroom and the chlorine in pool was too intense.

What an exquisite stay we had at Cava Colchagua hotel, sleeping in an authentic wine barrel with a very comfortable bed, having a glass of Chardonnay by the pool, enjoying a massage and hot tub surrounded by the vines … a dream !! Not to mention the very kind and attentive person from the reception who speaks Canadian French (don’t remember his name but « merci à toi pour ton accueil, tabernacle !! ») Last but not least, the value for money is reaaaaally good !
