Room was ok but bed a bit hard and 1 pillow not enough but 2 was too high. No milk available to make a coffee in the room. Excellent breakfast. Loads of choice both hot and cold food. 'Welcome' on arrival was lacking. We had travelled for 21 hours and arrived very tired at 0030 to be met with no smile or Welcome. Told room was in 2nd tower but no direction given as to where 2nd tower lifts were. Got in wrong lift first and wondered why it wouldn't work. Eventually got out and a cleaner pointed to a different lift further away from reception desk. Not told where dining room was for breakfast either. 1st impressions of hotel were not good but the breakfast was good.
The hotel is older. The staff is first rate. But the hotel doesn't really try to do anything exceptional. It's a basic hotel. Sleep and shower and bathroom. If you want more than that then you may try other places. It has a nice pool. kind of small. and access to a beach. crowded beach. the free breakfast is Marriott residence inn level
This is a popular hotel in the business district of Quito close to Carolina Park with plenty of shops, bars & restaurants on its doorstep and approx 30-60 mins from the airport (depending on the traffic). This hotel has quite a busy road at the front and a not so busy one at the back.... so if you are not used to noise, make sure you ask for a room higher up the building / away from the traffic as soundproofing is okay but not 100% It's a huge conference & events hotel, so it was very busy, but we found the hotel staff friendly and the included buffet breakfast was plentiful. They also have a restaurant, bar, cafe and place for afternoon tea on site. Upstairs on floor "M" (via the 2nd block of elevators at the rear of the building), can be found the swimming pool (which has gym equipment around the side of it) and a yoga studio as well as energy drinks/snacks for sale and a free of charge purified water dispensing machine. We saw people coming in from outside the hotel to use the pool & gym, so they must sell memberships. We stayed at this hotel 4 nights on 3 separate occasions during our trip around Ecuador, as we kept needing to come back to Quito airport. It's a nice hotel with good furnishings and decor, but due to the high turnover of guests, certain basic maintenance items in the rooms are overlooked (as staff just don't have time and it's not picked up on by the ladies cleaning the rooms) . Our experience of every room we stayed in was the same...good decoration, but a variety of maintenance issues (e. g. only x1 coffee cup & x1 capsule supplied for the coffee machine; door knobs loose & needing screws tightening; nowhere to hang hand towel next to hand basin; missing plug from hand basin; shampoo conditioner & bath gel not properly replenished and ran out; plug did not fit the bath properly so water ran away and also the bath was not draining properly as partially blocked; insufficient hooks in bathroom to hang towels to dry which meant towels still soaking wet the next day and had to be replaced....not very eco-friendly; table lamps with loose connections and not working/unsafe). They provide x1 bottled water per person per day in the room. They also put a very nice bunch of flowers in our room and provided some cake for our anniversary, which was lovely. Suggestions for improvement to the hotel rooms:- 1. Get the maintenance team to go through every room in the hotel checking everything works properly. 2. Bed mattresses are not very comfortable and need a soft "topper" to be installed. 3. Pillows on beds are terrible (thin, small, hard, synthetic). Need replacing with large, plump and comfortable pillows. 4. There is no kettle or any way to make a cup of tea in the room after a long journey. We had been driving for 5hours from Mashpi in the traffic and just wanted to sit down on our own in the room with a hot drink! 5. The reversible air conditioning cannot be independently controlled in the rooms, (even though there is a panel on the bedroom wall). You have to ring reception every time to make adjustments, which is really annoying because the "adjustments" are not immediate. Suggest changing this system. 5. Have a dedicated phone number within the hotel for in-room requests as the reception desk is too busy. We asked for some glasses and some extra pillows multiple times and kept being directed to different phone extensions within the hotel. Eventually the items appeared 4h later after we had chased them 3 times.
