Hotel Dermuth Klagenfurt

Loved it here; so much that I extended my stay for an extra 2 nights. The hotel is peaceful, with beautiful views across the mountains. It is definitely worth an upgrade to have a balcony and watch the sunset. The descriptions do say that there is a bath, however this is only in 1 room- just FYI. The rooms are well looked after and very comfortable beds and bedding. The staff were very helpful and communicative, especially Doro. The spa is small but perfectly formed. Had a lovely evening in the sauna and hot tub. Only some of the rooms have air conditioning, others have fans. It’s 30 minute walk to the lake and about 45 minutes to the city. Quicker by car, but I was foot powered and enjoyed my daily walks to explore. A lovely hotel; perfect to rest and recharge.

Nice, spacious room but we were lacking a few amenities in the room such as facial tissue and robe, especially as we had the deluxe room. The facilities were also lacking, a tiny gym with only 1 treadmil, 1 stationary bike and 1 weight machine. The sauna was not functioning and the steam room also small so only 2 people can fit comfortably. The biggest problem was unfortunately the staff, we had a good check in experience but things went down hill from there...the design of the hotel is such that the hallway leading to the room pasts the kitchen and we were almost whacked by a staff member carrying a big tray of glasses. When she saw us eventually there was no apology or even acknowledgement. When checking out, the lady was very rude when I enquired about the tourist tax and made a condescending comment like "of course there is tourist tax". For a 4 star hotel and 170+ euros per night this definitely did not live up to the expectations.

I came for celebrate birthday with 2 little kids. There is no hot water in my room, the radiator does not work, the heated towel rail does not work, the washbasin is clogged. How it can be….yes, room is clean, breakfast good enough. But NO HOT WATER. HOW????????
