We arrived during carnival. Nothing in the hotel was open that day. Restaurant, Snack Bar and Swimmingpool closed (not even room service was available, nothing in the minibar but water...). If we didn't have a driver who took us into town we would have starved to death (no shops or restaurants within walking range). That's not a 4* hotel to me. Room was OK but simple and outdated. Safe good size and working but a little difficult to use. Very dirty windows. No slippers, no bathrobe, no soap. Only shampoo in the shower. On the second night I had dinner at the restaurant (snackbar was still closed). Opening hours only 19:00-21:30... Small menue, so I expected good food. Food was a little disappointing. I did expect more for the price. Good wines though. What really turned me off was that the younger of the two waiters was chewing gum while serving. That's a "no go"... The excursion to "ESA" was very disappointing. The introduction was in French and English. The rest of the tour only in French. Ridiculous! FD excursion to two of devil's islands on a Katamaran was nice. Lunchbufet on the island for 29 € too expensive and not worth the money.
The hotel had definitely past its best times and is in need of renovation. Unfortunately, some of the staff don't speak even one word of English. The breakfast is relatively minimal in regards of selection. The standard of hygiene regarding the food and in the rooms could certainly be better. There was fungus in the shower and often foreign hair after cleaning. Besides that it seems to be well overpriced.
This place is way past its prime. And to think they're trying to get €200 for a room blows my mind. The receptionist was clueless and at first didn't even know what I wanted when I asked for a toilet (which is a long walk through the restaurant, and One of the toilets was even closed) "Room?" She said, like she had never heard the request before.
