Hotel Du Vin Edinburgh

Excellent hotel in a great location. Easy walk to the Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Princes Street. We arrived at the hotel very early, and they took care of our luggage and us, and got us a lovely cup of tea. Just the ticket after a long haul flight. The staff were so friendly, courteous, and efficient. The room was lovely, with excellent amenities, including an iron and ironing board. Also a nice kettle, Scottish breakfast tea, and lovely Scottish biscuits. As an excellent bonus, the restaurant is simply outstanding. Delicious food, excellent wine, and impeccable service. All at quite reasonable prices, considering what you get. Finally, a really classy bar with, of course, an amazing selection of single malt whisky, and some nice fairly private seating areas. Highly recommended.

This historic hotel is located within walking distance to many unique shopping and dining experiences. We enjoyed spending our last evening in Scotland, relaxing in our suite, which was tastefully decorated, spacious, and furnished with a very comfortable bed and sofa. The breakfast (included with your booking) was impressive. You may order an entrée off the menu and also select items from a beautiful buffet. Grade A on both. The hotel does not provide parking.  Our mistake for not checking first.  It was a hassle to unload/load at check-in/check-out. They provided a discount for a nearby parking lot. In hindsight, we should have returned the car before check-in and then hired taxis while in Edinburgh. Regardless, our stay was wonderful.

I stayed in this hotel maybe 20 nights a year minimum. But sadly not anymore. They changed the beds in the suites: now there 2 bed pushed up together. Don’t give a great sleeping experience especially if you’re there with the other half. When you advertise king size beds, provide king-size beds not two beds pushed up together where you can feel the separation in the mattress.
