Hotel Escondido Oaxaca Oaxaca a Member of Design Hotels

We had a super stay here in this beautiful hotel. There are so many cozy and beautiful places to hang out - the lush courtyards, rooftop pool and bar, patios and library. We loved all the massive plants, the staff were friendly, kind and helpful and we felt comfortable there. We probably would not include breakfast next time, though it was great for a continental breakfast, there are just so many other wonderful options in the city (like stellar tomales from a cart a few blocks away) that I would rather just try all those. Flood at the rooftop bar was also just ok, would rather eat elsewhere. We didn’t have the full dinner though. The drinks were great. Only room for improvement is WiFi that works and better lighting in the rooms. They were rather dark.

Wonderful hotel in the middle of it all in Oaxaca Centro. Great rooftop lounge. Rooms are lovely and well-designed, if a bit small. It’s definitely a loud area but we are from NYC and barely noticed it unless we actively tried to listen for traffic.

Are you, fellow traveler, worried that this hotel is a Marriott wrapped in contemporary Oaxacan design? You might be justified. The hotel is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The vibe is off, however. Cheesy music playing too loud throughout the common spaces. The food is mid. Pool is tiny and not very well attended. I don't blame the staff, they're doing their best. I can only assume it's corporate HQ cutting corners. We stayed at other more authentic places in Oaxaca. Find them!
