I like good design so I just had to stay at Il Palazzo at the end of my two week trip to Kyushu. It’s stunning. The attention to detail throughout was remarkable. My room was spacious and comfortable, with pretty much everything I might need. The staff were attentive and polite. Just one complaint - buffet lunch and dinner, which was included in the rate. It was essentially the same food, and none of it was Japanese. The desserts were pretty good, but otherwise it was a fairly limited, snacky international buffet. It could be so much better. My advice would be to have lunch at the hotel when you check in, but go out for dinner. No surprise it was busy at lunchtime and quiet in the evening. Breakfast was a different story, with a good selection of what you might expect.

Stayed here for one night in April. Location is in the city centre so very convenient and nearby tourist spots like Hakata. Staff were very friendly. Our room was ready for us even though we arrived a few hours before the check-in time. The room was good, with good facilities. There were delicious chocolates given as a welcome gift. The breakfast and all day buffet had a great variety of food and tasted amazing. Highly recommend!

The overall accommodation experience was quite average. There were no additional facilities, and although meals were included with an all-you-can-eat option for all three meals, the food selection was monotonous and easily became tiresome. The room rates were expensive — we stayed for two nights mainly because of the beautiful lighting and design. The room was considered a high-end one with a bathtub, but it was actually quite small and not very practical to use.
