Hotel José Nogueira

Comfortable rooms in an old mansion. Service is overly attentive, which some may value, but I find a bit annoying. Very convenient to everything downtown. Adjoining restaurant is quite good.

Good hotel especially in terms of location. I only had a small window on top floor and lighting in room wasn’t the greatest. Loved the bathroom though and shower pressure! The breakfast was a let down, the eggs were very sloppy/wet and even though they claimed to start 630am - the hot food only came out 7ish. Thankfully my excursions stated later so I could wait. The bread was a bit dire and crumbly. Think they could make a slight bit more effort on maybe offering egg alternatives and/or including cappuccinos etc. There is no filtered water provided so had to buy at store - more hotels need to offer decent water for refillable bottles. It’s only a 7min walk to bus station and overall was fine for my stay.

I can’t rate this hotel properly because they canceled my reservation. I had booked two rooms at this hotel in October 2024 for late January 2025. The hotel confirmed my reservation and charged my credit card in full in early January 2025, and about a week later notified me that they had cancelled my reservation. This is inappropriate and not the way reservations work. Very poor service.
