Hotel Memling

I recently had the pleasure of returning to Hotel Memling for a second stay, two years after my initial visit, and I must say, it was just as fantastic as I remembered. From the moment I arrived, I was reminded of why this hotel is a top choice for me. The highlight of my stay was undoubtedly the pool. The pool area is an oasis of relaxation, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Whether it was lounging by the poolside or taking a refreshing swim, the experience was both rejuvenating and tranquil. The staff at Hotel Memling continued to impress me with their exceptional service. Just like during my first visit, they were nothing short of perfect—attentive, friendly, and always ready to help. Their dedication to ensuring guests have a comfortable and enjoyable stay is truly commendable. One of the standout moments of this trip was the restaurant's thoughtful gesture. Knowing that I had an early check-out at 5 am, the restaurant offered me an early breakfast box. This unexpected touch demonstrated the hotel's commitment to going above and beyond to meet their guests' needs. My return to Hotel Memling was a reminder of the consistent quality and care that this establishment provides. The ambiance, the staff, and the attention to detail all contribute to an exceptional stay that's truly worth revisiting. I'm already looking forward to my next stay at Hotel Memling. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. Also centrally located in Gombe making it accessible to several places. The front desk staff were very professional plus they also speak English. My stay was pleasant.

The hotel is centrally located in a safe part of town. There's lots of activity around the hotel with small shops acting as money exchange, food stalls, etc .. The hotel has an ATM machine, hairdresser, massage service, etc. . and breakfast is served from 06:00 to 10:00 and is included in the price. The buffet breakfast is probably the best part of the hotel: meat, potatoes, beans, juice, coffee, etc. .. one such meal is great before a day of sightseeing. However, the wifi is limited and not fast so it's a pity there's no unlimited wifi in this 5-star hotel. I recommend spending some time inside the Cockpit bar which has some cool memorabilia of the defunct airline SABENA (Sabena uses to own the hotel and sold it after its bankruptcy). There's a swimming pool as well and buffet lunch for 25USD. Memling is located about 20kms from FIH Kinshasa airport but plan a journey time of at least 2.5 hours in order not to miss your flight because traffic jams near the airport are common. At Memling, I recommend talking to Sylvain "Tintin" who's been welcoming guest for 40 years and if you need a trusted taxi driver, request Gauthier who will get you where you want to be in Kinshasa safely.
