Rooms: rooms were pretty spacious with a great view and the amenities that came along with them were a nice touch, I have no complaints about the room itself, however I am also including the game room that is on the lobby in the “room” category, the game room is “ok” there are some claw machine games and 2 ping pong tables, however it is pretty hidden and the overall atmosphere of the room is kind of lacking luster, there are no windows to let in some natural light and the lights in the game room make it feel super empty and feels more like some stuff thrown in a basement than a game room, but still me and my friends had a blast playing some ping pong, although it is ¥1000 for fourth minute of playing. Service: on the 8th floor before you reach the onsen there is a footspa on the outside with a beautiful view, super nice place to just relax, the onsen itself is pretty spacious, however it doesn’t have a cold bath or a sauna, but it does provide services such as a toner and moisturizer as well as the basics, they also have quite a few massage chairs that feel amazing after a bath. The onsen at the OTHER hotel that is in collaboration with this one provides an even better onsen with a crazy astetic outside bath that has both a cold bath and sauna as well as a warm bath for those who can’t handle as much heat, there are also vending machines all over and you can even get ice cream from a couple of them The staff here were amazing and were super understanding. They also spoke English very fluently, shoutout to the nice lady with a British accent they were super helpful in checking us in and clearing up any misunderstandings we had Only complaint was the food from the buffet was mediocre at best and was not very enjoyable. Location: The location is beautiful and there’s a reason why it’s considered one of the national parks, it’s only a 20 min bus ride to the top (costs ¥750 each way and the bus stop is about a 400m walk uphill from the hotel) where there’s a beautiful lake and a bunch of cafes you can just relax at, my only complaint is that on weekdays shuttle busses only come once an hour and have a limit to how many people can get on at once making it so getting to the hotel is a hassle and getting from the hotel to the station is also a hassle

First off, the reason I gave the property 3 stars is their tattoo policy. I have stayed at many onsens and usually a westerner with a small tattoo can simply cover the tattoo and enjoy the baths. I have a small tattoo that I typically cover to respect the local traditions. After booking a 3 day stay I noticed in the FAQ's for the property that they explicitly forbid tattoo covers. I booked a room with an in-room bath, but didn't want to be the insensitive traveller that flaunted the rules, so I didn't visit any of the public baths, which were the main reason we selected this property. Overall the buffet was "ok" in terms of quality, though if you are staying several days, keep in mind they do not vary the buffet much day by day, so you will mostly be seeing the same dinner and breakfast items. The room with the in-room bath was nice, though they didn't have much seating in the room. In my room specifically we had 5 people and only 2 chairs. Also we didn't have a massage chair, which wasn't expected, but is pretty common in the large (more premium) rooms at onsens. I can't speak to the quality of the public baths as I didn't see them. The rest of the property is pretty well maintained.. but there are parts that seem to have not been updated since the 1980's. TIP: For a family of 4, a taxi from the train station to the property is 800 yen which is the same as the bus, just take a taxi.

We choose a Japanese room to get the full experience. The room is much smaller in reality than the pictures. The futon were very uncomfortable. The toilet in one side of the room and the sink is on a different side. The room was smelling old, the whole room only had two outlets. THE HOTEL WAS 20mins AWAY FROM HAKONE STATION, AND YOU CAN ONLY WALK THERE. The way to the hotel is on an uphill. I really don’t recommend staying at this place. They don’t have shuttles can’t speak English to help with taxi ordering.
