Restaurant & Pool Review – A Beautiful Spot in Lubumbashi Undermined by Messy Service This place is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful spots in Lubumbashi. The terrace, the pool, the ambiance — everything invites you to relax and enjoy your time. Unfortunately, the experience often falls apart due to disorganized and inconsistent service. I’ve been there several times for lunch, usually between 12:00 and 16:00. Most of the time, the restaurant and pool area were nearly empty — but so were the staff. You’ll often find yourself waiting a long time before anyone acknowledges you. One time, I waited over 30 minutes before someone finally came to take my order. On Sundays, confusion reaches another level. You’re handed the full à la carte menu, only to be told 15 minutes later that the kitchen isn’t accepting any orders — you must take the Sunday buffet instead. When you ask why, the waiter points to a tiny note in the menu mentioning a Sunday buffet, but nowhere does it say it’s mandatory. Then comes the negotiation. One Sunday, I could order freely. The next, I was told only the $40+ buffet (excluding drinks) was available. It all depends on which staff member is serving you. The team is friendly, but it’s clear they’re completely lost in the contradictory instructions they’ve been given. You’d think that after spending $50+, you could enjoy laying down by the pool — but again, it depends. One waiter told me it was fine. Moments later, a guard came to say it was reserved for hotel guests only (after I got a drink served and started to fall asleep of course), and that I should go back to the restaurant seats. With the pool and lounge chairs totally empty, I eventually secured my seat after minutes of negotiating about how absurd the situation was. If the concern is people staying all day by the pool without ordering, take a cue from proper high-end establishments: set a clear minimum spend/ day pass price and clearly communicate about it. The food isn’t bad — the meat is flavorful and well-prepared. But at this price point, service should follow. Right now, the beauty of the location is overshadowed by the messiness of the experience. There’s so much potential here, and I truly hope management steps up to match the quality of the setting with the service it deserves.
Food is average. The breakfast selection does not have options (hot food) for vegetarian guest except rice, sauteed veggies. Fruits/juices/breads are good. If you can introduce one dish like veg cutlet or baked veggies or pasta it could help.
