Guest Reviews 4.5 / 5
In the run up to this amazing trip, I was obsessive about the reviews and getting anxious. We had nothing to be worried about at all. Yes, the rooms are not the typical “English” 5* rating but they are great quality and beautifully cleaned every day. It’s an island off Africa- there is only so much they can do. Nevertheless, a clean and beautiful room. The islands mantra is “no stress” but that doesn’t mean the staff are not super hard working. They always go above and beyond. We were celebrating an anniversary and we were surprised with a beautiful cake and champagne one evening. There is a slight walk to the beach and it is shared with other people in the Riu complex. Not an issue for us as we enjoyed meeting others but children were getting rowdy at one point. We booked our holiday with TUI. The trips we had booked were star gazing and a catamaran cruise. We cancelled star gazing as heard some mixed reviews with over cast and our catamaran cruise did get cancelled. We went to Shark Bay instead and that was amazing. Thank you Izzy for facilitating and being the best holiday rep a couple can ask for. All the staff were lovely and great entertainers. A massive shout out to Bruno, Valeria and Lima for making our holiday so special.
Really good resort / hotel although not 5 stars worthy, i’d say 4 stars, there are a couple things they could improve on especially the room doors. They are pretty hard to close resulting in everyone smashing their door shut early in the morning or late in the evening which causes a lot of noise waking me up a lot of times, rooms can be noisy in general also. Our shower door didn’t close properly and the sink drain plug did not work, some water from the shower would leak onto the floor which would leak to the toilet floor, all very minor stuff and I am sure they would fix it if reported but it’s something I would expect to work in a 5 star resort. Service and food were great, a lot of food options and the option to reserve 3 different kind of restaurants. We were there for 2 weeks and were never disappointed with the food! The staff really work their asses off and we never felt like we were forgotten. People with dietary restrictions please be aware; there are allergen cards next to each meal but they are misplaced often! For example there will be a card next to a taco which would say “Ham” with the allergen info of ham. So use common sense and ask if unsure. Please improve on this RIU When going to the beach please be aware that there are people trying to sell tours and excursions and they can be VERY pushy, again use common sense, don’t wear your jewellery when walking past etc if you aren’t interested in what they have to offer or confrontation. there is security at the gate when leaving for the beach and I believe the beach is privately owned by RIU so they won’t follow you on the beach or into the resort it’s just in between the resort and beach. Overall we had a lovely stay and we will definitely keep RIU in mind for the future! Amazing resort.
Wonderful place to stay. Food was outstanding, especially at the restaurants, felt like date night with the husband. Service from the service desk was top notch, also in the restaurants. The buffet and the pool not quite so much. One day our room wasn't restocked with soft drinks so we rang the desk who sent someone immediately to resolve this, then rang us back to ensure we were satisfied. We were woken by the maids knocking on the door for the first few days (before 8.30) so we told the desk and it was stopped. I would have happily given 4.5 stars if that was an option. The only things that stopped it being 5 stars for us was firstly, the lack of towels. We didnt bring beach towels as these were advertised as provided, only for them to run out twice meaning we had to go to the beach ir pool with no towel, and second, the amount of salesmen just outside the resort on the way to the beach that you cant avoid with it being such a narrow path. They dont give in, making it a pain to go to the beach. Other than that, we had a lovely relaxing stay. I usually get bitten badly and I only got bit once! We would definitely cone back if we wanted another relaxing holiday. The only thing stopping us would be the fact that we have now seen Sal and there really isnt much to see.
