It was a pleasant 6 night/ 5 day stay. I will say that the reception staff is extremely kind and accommodating. On our first day, we noticed that the door to our room did not lock due to the key card entry not working, the front desk promptly moved us to a similar room. This room unfortunately did not have a working safe nor a functioning AC unit and once again the front desk changed our room without hesitation and very quickly. They upgraded us to one of the remodeled floors which was nicer than the room we had been in before. For this, I will say that the reception was kind, respectful, and quick to resolve our issues. As for the room, the bed is extremely uncomfortable. If you are used to sleeping on memory foam or a hybrid mattress, the beds at this hotel will not be comfortable for you. I found myself tossing and turning and unable to get a good night's rest due to the springs in the bed. As for the unrenovated floors, the bathrooms have old tiles and the ceramic on the bathtub is peeling. The carpet was also extremely old and dirty. This is something to keep in mind before booking. Luckily, I was upgraded to a renovated floor. The location was 10/10 if you are coming to explore, bar hop, and have restaurants and stores within walking distance. Despite being on a busy street I did not notice any noise from the ground floor while being in my room.
I went to the rooftop for a drink and a snack but the waiter never came to ask if I needed something. I realized he only attended men. I asked directly in the bar for something to eat and he said he didn't have any vegetables or vegetarian options. Only when my male colleague asked he offered a menu with more food options. I recommend eating somewhere else so much cheaper and with better service.
At the rooftop terrace/pool... Drinks are overpriced. The waiter came once when he served our drinks. Did not come back to check on us. He did; however, check on other guests (white people). He also had a bit of an attitude... I asked if we could charge the drinks to my room. He said: " I don't know, is your account open?" I told him I wasn't sure. He said: "You should remember if you did." I made the reservation months ago, and I don't remember being asked if I wanted the account to be open. I was there a couple of weeks ago as well. You can't bring your own beer either. You will be charged $950 pesos if you decide to do so. The front desk people were nice. There were lots of mosquitos in our room. We killed several every night, but the next day, we found more. The TV makes a loud, static noise every time something white and bright is on screen. Dark scenes are darker than usual as well. This wasn't necessarily the hotel's fault, but we had the do not disturb sign on the door. The little girl next door might have flipped it. The lady came by to clean the room, I answered that we were ok... trying to sleep. She kept knocking on the door and scolded me for the sign. I explained I had it set as do not disturb. She seemed visibly upset. The first room I was in the bathroom was in poor condition and needed a bit of remodeling and or repairs. The second room was good.
