Hotel Santa Isabel

Ok so we went to this hotel in 2008. And it was fantastic! Everything worked in your Apartment ! This year the hot water worked sometimes! The safe had to be fixed by myself😂 because maintenance didn’t know how to fix lol😂 maids were fantastic as expected but the hotel has lost its vibe😥 Ten years ago the manager was interactive , the reception staff actually spoke to us like we were guests and were friendly . Just goes to show how employing the right staff changes your experience 👍 the actual location is perfect! Right where you need to stay for perfect places to eat and drink and plenty of walking around old Havana to discover hidden gems.

This hotel has a lot of history and is charmingly restored, but our room was awkwardly arranged and very dark, with heavily shuttered windows that opened onto a narrow, noisy alley. The front desk was staffed by rather listless employees who never had any change and charged twice th going rate for Internet cards. The service at the included breakfast was comically slow, despite the sparse crowd. On the positive side, the location of the hotel is as good as it gets, right on the historic central plaza of the old city. I did see that some rooms in the hotel were very nice, so, if you can pick your room and avoid any reliance the front desk staff and any expectation of service at breakfast, you should be OK. Interestingly and in contrast, the bell hops were very helpful ad friendly.

The only good thing about this hotel was the location! Apart from that, everything was horrible: 1 - staff at the reception were not very welcoming 2 - the room keys were not ready when we came 🚨 3 - the room furniture was very old, damaged and dirty 4 - the bartender (2 different guys) tried to sell me cigar and they insisted although I told them that I am a hotel guest 🛑 5- we were asked to leave the reception area as there was insects spray I really don’t recommend this hotel. There are pretty good number of hotels around and they look new
