Hotel SPA Termes Carlemany

This review is specifically for the massage therapist, Christina. My wife and I both had full body massages with Christina and were blown away with how relaxed and revitalised we felt afterwards. Just wow!

My friend and I had an overall nice stay at the hotel. Our room had a comfortable size, and the bathroom included a bathtub, robes and more. There was closet space for our clothes, a refridgerator, comfortable beds and a balcony. The location is perfect, calm and close to the city center. Unfortunately, we would not recommend eating at the breakfast buffet, as my friend got food poisoning after eating their eggs. There is no chance she got food poisoning from anywhere else, as we ate and shared the same meals for our whole trip. We tried some spa treatments; a massage and a body scrub. The professional lady who provided these treatments was really sweet. The receptionists were very considerate and helpful. The restaurant overcharged us. The day after she got food poisoning, my friend tried to eat a starter in the hotel restaurant, but was feeling unwell and had to go to our room. I asked the waitress if she would tell the chefs to stop making the rest of my friends menu order. Ten minutes later, she served me both my dish and my friends, even though she had left long ago. Both dishes were added to our bill. Summary I would recommend staying here, but eat somewhere else. As this is a prime location, there are a lot of nice restaurant nearby.

The hotel is located on the road and the air is very dirty, full of exhaust fumes. The hotel will surprise you with additional charges, most of which are not mentioned anywhere. In other words, you can't fully rely on the information provided by the hotel. The hotel's website says that parking is included, but doesn't say that there's a surcharge of €20/day. This is very misleading. Also, the parking is small and far way from the hotel, so you need to go uphill for 250m (this is the nearest one, see photo). It's terrible if you are with a relatively big car. NO electric charger. The spa is not guaranteed (based on availability) and only has a sauna, hammam and jacuzzi. The sauna is OK, but again, I paid extra to use it for 45 min, and you have to book a day in advance, which is not very convenient. Breakfast is OK. Dinner is not good value for money (€23 for a meal without alcohol, and you have to pay extra for some dishes, so it ends up being about €40 per person). We had a room with a view of some slum (see the photo). Other rooms face the street. Don't know which is worse :) The rooms are OK, and it's fine for a 3-star hotel, but the price definitely does not match the value.
