We loved our stay here 🌺 I could sit on my balcony and enjoy my jungle view all day if I wanted to! We had one of the rooms that hasn't been renovated yet but it was still lovely and very comfortable with everything we needed. The bathroom could use a bit of love, but we did see the renovated rooms and they are all top notch. Our room was near the Spring Pool which was beautiful and we had it to ourselves most of the time! Location is okay, not right in the centre of town but just a short walk or taxi/scooter. Staff are all so friendly and accommodating - I think we had a concierge drive us to town on his break because there were no taxis! Lots of work around the property but still the staff are very attentive when they see guests. Lovely historical hotel, we didn't use the spa but it looks absolutely stunning. There's a short walk through the jungle if you like, and lots of eateries nearby. Didn't spot any monkeys near the hotel!
The hotel gardens and atmosphere are amazing, and the staff were very friendly. We received a lovely welcome upon arrival. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, although the bathroom in ours (Coconut Room) was a bit dated, and the room had a slightly damp smell. Breakfast was really nice—especially the (green) pineapple pancakes, which were a highlight. The restaurant and bar were on the expensive side. A staff member recommended a driver for a day( kadek) which was a great experience and great value. However, on the last day, We asked at reception to order a taxi to take us to the center of Ubud (about 2–3 km away), but they couldn’t give us a price. In the end, they used two hotel shuttle vans to take the five of us and charged 150K IDR per van, which should have been far less—likely around 20–30K. Make sure to check and confirm the price in advance to avoid overpaying.
Unsafe & Disrespectful – Extremely Disappointed We stayed at Hotel Tjampuhan & Spa from 26–29 June 2025, and had a serious security incident that the hotel has completely ignored. At 4:45 AM on 29th June, someone was aggressively banging and trying to break into our room, speaking a language we didn’t understand. We were terrified — I was traveling with my parents. Despite calling reception 3–4 times, help arrived very late. We were later told it was a “crazy lady passing by” — no apology, no proper explanation, and no assurance of safety. The hotel initially promised a one-night refund but never followed through. After that, they ignored every email and follow-up. We feel disrespected and cheated, especially since the fault was entirely theirs. The hotel is average at best amenities-wise, and this experience proved it cannot guarantee guest safety or show basic accountability. Avoid this hotel if you value your peace of mind, safety, or respect as a guest.
