If you're looking for a convenient spot near Alcatraz and Pier 39, this is a great choice. The bar serves strong mango margaritas, and the room was clean with surprisingly nice soap and lotion—seriously, they were good! The breakfast buffet is much better than what you'd find at a typical Marriott. However, if you're driving an EV, be warned: the parking situation is a letdown. They offer only one shared charger for the entire hotel, and it's a Level 1.75—not even a full Level 2. It's definitely not worth paying the valet fee just for that. You're better off parking elsewhere. The Holiday Inn across the street has 6 charges. Very strong 5 star but EV charging brings it to 4.5
Overall Rating: 4.2/5 Location: 5/5 Perfect location—steps from Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, and many attractions. Very walkable and convenient. Room Quality: 5/5 Room was clean, comfortable, and nicely styled. Shower was great, and we had a pool-facing window which added to the experience. Actually, the window can be opened and will have direct access to the pool area. Parking: 2/5 Valet parking is available but expensive at $75 per night. We didn’t use it due to the high cost, which lowers the rating. Breakfast: ❌ N/A No free breakfast, and we didn’t try their paid option. Service: 5/5 Housekeeping came daily. Linens were replaced upon request, and staff was professional and responsive. Aesthetic: 2/5 The hotel looks like a standard building—nothing visually striking or unique. It lacks the grand or modern design appeal of other Hyatt properties like the Hyatt Regency. Overall Thoughts: Originally considered Hyatt Regency San Francisco, which has a more elegant design. Hyatt Centric was a backup, and while not visually impressive, it still delivered a good experience with comfort and great location. I enjoyed my stay but would probably choose the Regency next time for the aesthetic.
recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. One of the biggest advantages is its location — it’s very centrally situated with restaurants, shops, and key attractions all within walking distance. For anyone visiting the city for sightseeing or business, the convenience factor is definitely a plus. However, the rooms themselves were underwhelming. They were quite small and felt dated, lacking the modern touches you might expect from hotels in a similar price range. One surprising inconvenience was the absence of a microwave in the room, which can be a hassle for longer stays or for guests who prefer to reheat their own food or snacks. On the brighter side, the staff were excellent. Every interaction I had was pleasant — they were consistently polite, helpful, and attentive, which added a lot of value to the overall stay. They were quick to assist with directions, local recommendations, and even small requests. In summary, while the hotel could use an upgrade in terms of room comfort and amenities, it’s still a decent option thanks to its outstanding location and genuinely warm and professional service. Ideal for short stays where location and staff service are top priorities.
